Glorious morning on the Chess. Cold hands but warming the heart.
Still confusing as almost all of the research states signal crayfish should be dispatched at site and you are committing an offence if they are released back into the wild. Agree the odd one returned will not make any difference to the overall issue.
Confused. Thought any signal crayfish caught could not be released back into the river. When did this advice change?

Thornwick Bay near Flamborough. The real joy was watching squadrons of gannets plundering fish shoals. Picking out prey from 50m. Dropping out of the skies in close formation. Then fighting to free themselves from the waves with or without lunch. Incredible energy investment.

This was from a 20 second kick sample on the River Chess at Latimer. A full 3minute sample would have filled the net. We would have been counting them in Kilos.
