When it comes down to it (because we don’t have part 2 to tell us for sure). Galinda and Elphaba can’t be together because of circumstances and how they chose to live their lives. Elphaba gave her the option, and Galinda turns it down essentially.

They definitely care about each other deeply, and I’d say Fiyero understands Elphaba and her cause in a way Galinda doesn’t. Galinda means well, but her execution is usually not great, especially when she starts out.

There’s also a bit of a love triangle-ish thing with Galinda, Fiyero, and Elphaba

Definitely! I love Fiyero because he’s a delightful himbo. But at the end it’s all about Galinda and Elphaba.

I think there’s a reason that the musical carries the subtitle “The untold story of the witches of Oz”

Okay, so yes she does end up with a guy. However, Fiyero is a gem and seducing everyone all over the place in the film 😂.

However… The friendship with Elphaba and Galinda has a lot going on there, and always was meant to be. Even according to the author Gregory Maguire (a gay man) himself.
