House Oversight hearing on ICE opens with the rules:

"It is also a clear violation of the rules of the House to make statements that might personally be offensive to the President or the Vice President of the United States."

Statement from Michael and Susan Pretti
Parents of Alex Jeffrey Pretti

“We are heartbroken but also very angry.

Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately, he will not be with us to see his impact.

I do not throw around the ‘hero’ term lightly. However, his last thought and act was to protect a woman. The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He had his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down, all while being pepper sprayed.

Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you.

Trump administration prepares sweeping crackdown on leftist networks The Justice Department’s program to root out violent “Antifa” extremism is raising First Amendment concerns.

Trump's DOJ has been ordered to embark on a sweeping crackdown on "left-wing domestic terrorism." Civil liberties experts warn it could lead to a level of politicized FBI surveillance of Americans not seen since the era of J. Edgar Hoover and COINTELPRO.

Three of the four CA counties empowered to inspect federal immigration detention facilities have not done so, and the fourth has conducted only basic reviews of food this year. https://cal.news/4gQMN8J

Extreme heat is warping life for all Californians, but state prisoners will be hit especially hard, @jeannereporter.bsky.social writes. And mounting pressure from activists, lawmakers and judges to do more is running into cost concerns. calmatters.org/politics/202...
