It's still winter, but our blueberries are getting ready for spring.🌱🫐

After the fog cleared up it was a beautiful sunny day. We had some great views of the Chehalem Valley from Bald Peak.

It's the season where our magnolias are starting to open their seed pods and release their glossy red seeds. However our magnolia trees are still producing new flowers. 🌱 #FlowerReport

I think the air inside might be drier than it would prefer. The fronds don't last as long as they do outside, turning brown much sooner. Usually by spring there aren't many left. But they quickly come back after it gets moved outside again in the spring.

I think the variety is Mr. Sandman.

It's a Cyathea Australis.

Our Australian tree fern is looking good this year. Unfortunately it will soon be time to bring it indoors, where it doesn't seem to do as well. 🌱

We planted some new dahlias this spring. I was beginning to think this one wasn't even going to bloom, but now in mid-October, it is blooming for the first time. 🌱 #FlowerReport

A few pictures from our trip to Crater Lake National Park yesterday. It's so hard to believe this is the first time we've been there since we moved to Oregon. We plan to go back soon.

We spent Friday in Bend, including a visit to the Old Mill District along the Deschutes River.

We visited the Dahlia festival at Swan Island Dahlias today. There is such a huge variety of Dahlias there and now I'm getting some ideas about more varieties I'd like to try in our yard. 🌱#FlowerReport

I've read the novel but haven't seen the film version. No one did bleak dystopian fiction quite like J.G. Ballard.

I've had a few volunteers come up from seed, but when I've tried to plant seeds I haven't had any luck.

We have been meaning to go there sometime but haven't been there yet.

After 17 years, we had to say goodbye to our cat, Shadow, yesterday. As sad as I am, at least I have so many memories of him, from the time I first brought him home from California to his last time laying in the sun yesterday.

That one has long been one of my favorites.
