I’ve completed the final mile of my 44-mile walk in October to raise money in memory of Bowelbabe Dame Deborah James who died from bowel cancer aged 44. I suffered from a Stage Three bowel cancer in the last two years so please donate at fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/page/simons-... - thanks

@jayrayner1.bsky.social gutted to find out via my wife reading your book in the sun today that your inspiration to become a restaurant critic wasn’t the story you told me to write in 1986 which gave me my first byline in Leeds Student β€œSarnies War” but something else entirely. Ruined my street cred!

We could shift Windermere and the other lakes and our fells there as well, perhaps. I’m sure the 15m visitors would be doubled with better weather….

I was there for that! Couldn’t imagine what we were going to see unleashed on the football world. Strachan should go down as one of the best signings we have ever made - Β£300k?

@meetanostomate.bsky.social I’m day 11 post surgery to reverse my ileostomy. I still have a very distended stomach, but got home from hospital yesterday and slept properly for the first time last night. Now to build myself back up - any tips from anyone who has been through similar? #stoma #postop

Stupid question - but doesn’t gravity help with the downward version - and might you be more prone to leaks going sideways?

I love this film so had slight trepidation going to the Stavely Players performing a radio play of it. I needn’t have worried - it was fabulous and the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness is beautiful!

Better than the first - really recommend this for fans of detective stories.@hollyhauthor.bsky.social really writes in an engaging way - hopefully there are more to come!

Sensible. You’ll wear the disc out by watching it. When DVDs come back in, it’ll be worth more (Yorkshire logic that)

Mine got bigger - but I also developed a hernia around it (I was very sick in hospital). I think it’s pretty normal for it to change in size over time. Hope all is going well
