The image on the cover page is also figure 5.3 (p. 129) in the book. It shows pigs on an industrial farm with Yiddish wording: "Soviet Yiddish propaganda poster from 1931. The title declares in Yiddish, 'The pig is our main machine for the production of meat in the coming years!' Published by Tsenroizdat ... Moscow 1931, designer unknown."

It's a fantastic (non-technical) book! Rosenblum's writing is lovely (often sparking envy in me). The notes are impressively dialogical. It's a great book. You should read it.
