Mountain-going, biking, kayaker with two sons and a pathetic but charming vegetable garden. Former councillor, former SpAd. Working in an outdoor access charity. Current chair of Water of Leith Conservation Trust.

Thanks everyone for coming along to our midweek doorknocking. A breezy night in Gorgie Dalry but a warm reception from people living here! @edinburghgreens.bsky.social @scottishgreens.org
The amazing @threadinburgh.scot gave an absolutely fascinating talk to @wolct.bsky.social tonight on the history of polluting the Water of Leith over the last 2 centuries & the hidden sewers that helped turn the tide. Andy says heβll update this piece from 2022 now threadinburgh.scot/2022/12/06/t...
A night up at Mill Cottage andβ¦ there wasnβt much snow left in Monadh Liath but what was left was interesting
A wonderful snow day on Beinn Ghlas, Ben Lawers and Meall Corranaich
Thanks Zahrah!!
Grant Moir from Cairngorms National Park on ignition says that the statistics for Cairngorms are that immediate trigger is 13% from campfires but 19% from out of control planned burning (like muirburn)
The session starts with asking what causes wildfires. Answers from panel - ignition is not more likely but changing climate and changing fuel load linked to land management practises makes fires spread more and more intensely.
At the Rural Affairs Committee session on wildfires the convenor has opened the session with a warning that a fire alarm will go off in Parliament this morning
A wooden bridge, deeply incut and damaged by flooding on one side.
βΉοΈ Bad news: Recent flood damage has shut the road bridge into Spittal of Glen Muick car park - including to walkers.
It's a popular starting point for walks at Glen Muick, plus Lochnagar and other Munros on that side of the Cairngorms.

Another enthusiastic set of responses for our @edinburghgreens.bsky.social door knocking team in Gorgie Dalry this morning on behalf of @scottishgreens.org candidate @lornaslater.bsky.social in Edinburgh Central. #BothvotesGreen. #VoteGreen.
Door knocking today as usual (Sat 28 February) 10.30-12.30. Meet at 10.30 outside the Co-op, 114 Dalry Road. We will give full briefing & notes at the start & we will team up experienced @edinburghgreens.bsky.social door knockers with those of us coming newer to it. So no experience is required
Itβs been busy with Labour candidates, MSPs, MPs and councillors keen to talk to us and @scotways.com about their favourite walks and the exciting potential of the Scottish Paths Fund. Part of our engagement with all parties before Mayβs election. #ScotLab26
As a @scottishgreens.org member for 37 years I have baked in expectation management. But itβs got better over time and 2026 should be a good year.
So much for it being a close result. Well done Hannah.

Congratulations to all our friends in the @greenparty.org.uk
Hope beats hate!
A bit of cloud and drizzle couldnβt dampen the pleasure of @ramblersscotland.bsky.social team walk on the Drumchapel Way at the edge of Glasgow. Deer, buzzards along the way.
Things going swingingly on the Water of Leith today
A group of walkers on a narrow singletrack through grassland.
Scotland's Budget will be approved today.
Then it's up to councils, national parks & public bodies to set their own budgets. We want investment in:
π₯Ύ Paths to boost health & rural economies
πΊοΈ Frontline staff like rangers & access officers
β°οΈ Making world-class access rights a daily reality for all!
Great team of @edinburghgreens.bsky.social out in Gorgie Dalry today, knocking on doors and telling people how winnable Edinburgh Central is for @scottishgreens.org candidate @lornaslater.bsky.social.
Disappointing
Iβm off to day 2 of Lib Dems Scottish conference as part of @ramblersscotland.bsky.social engagement with all political parties before the May election. Ed Davey is speaking today and Iβll feel sorely let down if he fails to appear in a purple wetsuit throwing square sausage sandwiches at the crowd.
Thanks to MSP @jamiegreeneuk.bsky.social for coming to visit our stand and recognising the case for a Scottish Paths Fund. #SLDconf
Very interesting chat with Scot Lib Dem leader @alex.scotlibdems.org.uk at #sldconf on Scotlandβs access rights. It was a Lib Dem cabinet minister who oversaw the 2003 Land Reform Act so itβs vital, 20 years, on that these rights are matched by reality with a Scottish Paths Fund.
Thanks to everyone that voted in person and online in the Leith Chooses process.
Happy to report we got the full grant that we applied for. Meaning more tools and plants for the regular Coalie Park Coalition group so that we can keep the area looking lush for years to come.
Group using ice axes and crampons on snowy slope
It's absolutely full on winter conditions out there if you are heading to Scotland's mountains - and that means you need to carry and know how to use an ice-axe and crampons. If you don't, either choose a walk at lower levels, wait for the snows to melt before tackling the summits...
Here is the view
Iβm sure @visit-scotland.bsky.social gets many requests about the whereabouts of this prestigious viewpoint in Fife.
I was speaking to another (not Green) MSP who highlighted that, in the last five years, the number of people contacting MSP offices with significant mental health crises has dramatically increased. Obviously, MSPs and staff are generalists and canβt usually offer directly the kind of help needed.
It's tomorrow! All residents welcome to join.
