South bend, IN showing up today!
"This weekend, John Oliver did something surprisingly rare in mainstream media: he dedicated 42 minutes to a thoughtful, well-researched segment on transgender athletes in sports that cut through the hysteria and political opportunism dominating this conversation.

Hands Off! South Bend rally making USA Today news!
Wow! So many people marching in South Bend. We're not used to this. It's usually 20 people milling around at an anti-abortion rally.

This weekend will see the largest protest day of Trump's second term with hundreds of marches in neighborhoods across the country. #HandsOff #April5

Today is the day. Yes itβs just a small act but itβs a start. Money is power. Donβt spend yours today.
The ASA, American Federation of Teachers @AFT, and AFT-Maryland, facilitated by @DemocracyForward, have filed a complaint today in federal court in Maryland challenging the βDear Colleague Letterβ published by the Department of Education Office for Civil Rights.
Yes, so many myths and stereotypes!
@tristanbridges.bsky.social has written on recent sexual identity data from Gallup. Again we see bisexuals (esp. young women) leading the growth in LGBTQ identification. Iβm starting a new qualitative project on bisexuality. Would love to connect/collaborate w. others! Who else is working on this?!
I was invited to take part in the P. 99 test for my book. βOpen the book to p.99 and read, and the quality of the whole will be revealed to you.β Check it out!
When filmed this, I was in the thick of book writing. Now, here we are, just months out from publication. I totally manifested that 2025 release date ππΎ
"Idaho Republican legislators have introduced a resolution on Tuesday urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Obergefell v. Hodges, the 2015 decision that established marriage equality nationwide."
Did you register for the next WFRN.bsky.social Virtual Plenary? Coming soon! Going Back? Gender, Work, and Family in 2025 focuses on the stalled/unfinished gender revolution in the public and private spheres. Held on January 24 or 25, depending on your time zone. wfrn.org/news/registe...
Well, that didnβt take long.
Republicans in Idaho want to go back to a time before marriage equality, filing a resolution challenging Obergefell.

Thanks to Chris Julian for this graphic and our latest on how (unsurprisingly) queer folks are not that different from everyone else and want same and similar things out of life and family. Data is from the American Marriage Survey with @gaylekaufman.bsky.social. Image inspired by Reviewer 2.
Is this what itβs come to? The royalty as soft power?! I might have to become a royalist after all π€ͺ
In which the rate of social change outpaces social legibility. Keep up people!!
βHowever broadly one defines the ambit of HHS, Americans should at least agree on this much: The state should address the public in words that are legible to most citizens, rather than using the obscure jargon of any subculture,β Conor Friedersdorf writes:
He is plain stupid. But public opinion, law & legitimacy are not neatly connected. When same-sex marriage became legal in MA a majority still opposed it. I found LGBTQ people leveraged the legitimacy of law to change opinion. Now they could lose legal rights even with public opinion support.
