Hey, Linatics. I know I tried to return to stream last Friday, but I think y'all saw how much I was coughing the whole time. I think I'm gonna TRY to squeeze in two more days of rest, so no stream tonight and I'll try for Tuesday.

This show left me with such a mixed bag of feelings. And incredibly strong start to a season celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Super Sentai franchise, Gozyuger slowly lost a lot of its momentum due to a comination of issues. The cast and characters were very charming, as per usual for Super Sentai, but many of them unfortunately suffered from lack of actual evolution of character despite implied character growth. Often they would experience the same issues over and over again, leading to repeative plot lines. And whenever any big sweeping changes did occur, many of them were quickly forgotten about or came out of nowhere. That isn't even getting into the unfortunate controversy with the dropping of Gozyu Unicorn's actress, Maya Imamori. Due to the complicated legal issues involved, that basically resulted in a far more disjointed last few episodes in order to accomodate for a combination or a new actress and existing recorded footage that would've been hard to redo. It leaves the show with such a bitter taste, despite such inspiring characters and fun dynamics. With this being the final Super Sentai series (for now), I'm left feeling rather empty and morose over the loss of one of my favorite franchises. I've read that Gozyuger was not meant to be the finale of Super Sentai, but that put such a massive amount of burden upon them in order to close out the franchise properly. In many ways, I respect Gozyuger having its own identity instead of trying to be a great celebration of Super Sentai. It just felt like a shame that a series with so many flaws/production issues had to close out a legendary franchise. Until we meet again, Super Sentai. Rest well. 6/10
