Diagrammatic map of the Tokyo railway network, using a hexalinear grid alignment. The map features both JR railways, private railways, and other minor railways in the region spanning Tokyo and its surroundings (albeit not extending to Chiba, Saitama, or Yokohama due to space restrictions). It uses the standard color-coded system, but with added effort to standardize the color palette and keep the line colors vibrant and complementary.

its not the metro's fault that the muni is incompetently run, is it?

that said, there are integrated cards available for all the metro lines, most stations have sidewalks outside them. as for buses, BEST actually removed couple of bus stops which were just infront of the metro exits πŸ’€

the primary problem is that the metro operators, bus operators and the municipality are not the same. metro operators are state level entitities, while municipalities do pavements and buses. the state can only gently nudge them to do their job, they unfortunately cant do it for them.

NHSRCL is prioritizing transfers from IR wherever it can, look at the integrated station at Vadodara

The big fight: Indian Railways vs Bengaluru Suburban Railway | S2E1 YouTube video by OoruLabs

you can also see what they had done to bengaluru suburban rail project (youtu.be/G_f9sQyF3sc)
Indian urbanism is more top heavy due to a lack of hukou so we would require less HSR to cover all our cities, so we can just connect all our cities on proper HSR, no need of any thru running

you dont want to do any project that requires any collaboration with IR, as they just keep throwing wrenches on your project. they are very uncooperative in any project. the renegotiation in the HSR rolling stock and running a slower self developed trainset in the meantime was their idea.

other reasons include wider curves would lead to more land acquisition which is already a problem in India,
IR's tracks are already overcrowded almost everywhere, ie there is no excess capacity anywhere from which one can run thrurunning trains,

the primary reason for no BG HSR is that there is no broad gauge HSR train (>=320kmph) set in actual production anywhere. we would have to develop it from scratch leading to postponement of plans by 10-20 years atleast.

did all of these expansions reallocated land already held by the railways, or did some buy land to do it? how did they manage those in that case?

a transit diagram titled "peta transit berintegrasi lembah klang" in malay ("klang valley integrated transit map" in english). it shows all existing and under construction rapidkl, ktm komuter, and erl lines on a dark background, as well as rivers, mountains, and landmarks. lines in central kuala lumpur are drawn using concentric circles, with the mrt circle line being a full circle. the design language is rounded and humanist.

there are land acquisition issues, due to which we dont like to have multiple RoW for the same route. we also dont have marginally higher chance for freight derailment than passenger trains.

India? we do have general priority of pax over freight. but as soon as it is more than 2 tracks, we separate out freight (2 for pax, 1 for freight)

did you know that today there are as many metro trains running in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as there are in London?

amazing progress!

I'm sure that the point you are making is somewhat true, but this is the wrong comparison. (and also the wrong scale) India generally doesnt have rough mountains with coastal plains, while Southern China does, thats why development concentrates at the coast in (Southern) China.
