Your narrative voice is a camera. Distant third person is remote, viewing from a distance. Close third person comes right up to the characters, sometimes even guessing their thoughts. First is a POV shot, watching through the eyes (and mind) of the character.
It’s tough in the writing industry at the moment but I’ve been so inspired talking to other writers who are diversifying and working their socks off to be able to keep doing it. Channeling that energy into 2026!

Fanfic is reading.
Text-based games are reading.
Audiobooks are reading.
Braille books are reading.
Non-fiction is reading.
Picture books are reading.
There is no single way to read, nor is any reading style more worthy than another.

Decided to delete a detail about condoms in a cupboard from my WIP as it became irrelevant. Searched ‘condoms’ to delete all refs & now it’s in my search box permanently. Every time I bring up my chapter list or search for something else, I’m haunted by condoms. Opened a different doc & same 🤣
