you *do not* need proof of citizenship to vote in canada.

you need to be a citizen & have a form of id with your name & address. in Ontario that can be a drivers license, OHIP card, utility bill, or a bank/CC statement, etc.

many americans do not have a copy of their birth cert or a passport.

Some absolutely yes got what they hoped for.

I know people who are 100% unplugged from news & others people who are so in denial that they’re virtually dissociating or mainlining rhetoric even more now for safety/comfort.

I hold out some hope for some the latter, but understand why others don’t.

I apologize for having provided feedback you didn’t directly ask for, and I’ll disengage here as we aren’t hearing one another. My bet is you and I probably actually agree on a whole lot, just a slight misalignment on tactics.

Some of them are surely trolls. Some are real true believers. Many are probably straight bots.

But the people quietly reading the back-and-forth - who you name as your intended audience anyway - will also be more persuaded if you do just share links, facts and ease up on the language.

The psychology says that’s going to cause them to retreat further into their beliefs. And you would be better off not engaging.

If you know these people IRL, they’re better to have these convos IRL.

If these are strangers on a FB thread…you’d need to tread v lightly to find a way in. Social media isn’t good at facilitating convos, it just much rewards the pwning each other. People are conditioned to expect attacks.
