Iβm getting a little sick of saying this, but I think itβs worth repeating, that this speech sounds no different than your average white nationalist website.
you *do not* need proof of citizenship to vote in canada.
you need to be a citizen & have a form of id with your name & address. in Ontario that can be a drivers license, OHIP card, utility bill, or a bank/CC statement, etc.
many americans do not have a copy of their birth cert or a passport.
In solidarity with today's ICE OUT OF MINNESOTA blackout, MinnMax is donating $1 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota for every share of this Bluesky post for the next hour.
βI just had a conversation with my dad who has been a citizen here for 30+ years - he doesnβt feel welcome or safe here in πΊπΈ anymore. Heβs going back to Chile.β

So they didnβt like the ad. Letβs just post Reaganβs 5 min speech against tariffs as it appears on YouTube.
Over and over. On all platforms (some of yβall are still on X).

Don't engage. Just block. They want to push their rage bait on here. Don't give them the satisfaction.

Answer: yes, @hiltonhonors.bsky.social is clearly politically aligned with Elon Musk over the citizens of the actual district their hotel occupies.
Minnesota isnβt the problem but that doesnβt mitigate the impact of federal policy and messaging #ElbowsUp #Never51

Sorry that Clayton crossed your path.
The article linked is nightmare clickbait white nationalist AI slop trash (i know you know this). I wonder if Clayton is a bot.
On behalf of everyone exposed to this thread, thanks for your thoughtful & measured responses A Cup of Squids π
So here for a recap of that Loki/Thor lecture in thread form, just sayinβ π₯Ήπ
This is super legit
Texas = 696,000 kmΒ² = 7.1% of US total land area & ~9% of US pop
Alberta = 661,000 kmΒ² = 6.6% of Canadaβs land area & ~12% of Can pop
AL is more sparsely populated than TX sure, but thatβs true of Canada vs USA overall.
In terms of relative-to-country stats, thereβs a lot of similarities.
π
Thank you Senator Booker!
100% agree and it has a lot to do with why Canadian elections arenβt the same clown circus. But itβs also exactly the kind of boring politics nerd stuff 95% donβt pay attention to, thus a key target by wealth looking to expand power. Those laws need to be *protected*.
Itβs time to do the right thing for the party and step down as senate minority leader.
π
Whoa thatβs **huge**!!
Iβd love to hear what changed your mind, if youβd be willing to share a little about that. What in the 2016 election cycle crossed a line for you? When you quit Fox, what did you switch to for news?
(wishing this app supported > 144 chars! not enough! π)
Some absolutely yes got what they hoped for.
I know people who are 100% unplugged from news & others people who are so in denial that theyβre virtually dissociating or mainlining rhetoric even more now for safety/comfort.
I hold out some hope for some the latter, but understand why others donβt.
I apologize for having provided feedback you didnβt directly ask for, and Iβll disengage here as we arenβt hearing one another. My bet is you and I probably actually agree on a whole lot, just a slight misalignment on tactics.
These are trying times.
I wish you all the best!
And in all seriousness, the irony of this thread is spectacular.
Some of them are surely trolls. Some are real true believers. Many are probably straight bots.
But the people quietly reading the back-and-forth - who you name as your intended audience anyway - will also be more persuaded if you do just share links, facts and ease up on the language.
Oh sorry no! I meant not engaging with strangers on social media, not to not vote.
βYou arenβt familiar with the real worldβ is combative. Purposely? I, like you, am passing along facts. Telling people that theyβre clueless wonβt inform them, & wonβt inform people passively reading your messages.
I believe you youβve tried other approaches! But for other people reading this, the example you shared, telling people theyβre cluelessβ¦
The psychology says thatβs going to cause them to retreat further into their beliefs. And you would be better off not engaging.
If you know these people IRL, theyβre better to have these convos IRL.
If these are strangers on a FB threadβ¦youβd need to tread v lightly to find a way in. Social media isnβt good at facilitating convos, it just much rewards the pwning each other. People are conditioned to expect attacks.

When people sense they're being scolded or attacked, even a little, they literally to shut you out & mentally tripple down on their original position. The phenomenon is called belief hardening.
2/X
Iβve been reading a lot about communicating across ideological divides of late. I know youβre trying, I credit you that! But if you want to reach people you need to soften your language a whole lot.
