Behold: the first-ever list of news outlets that have banned generative AI in their reporting. As of today, this is literally information that you cannot find on Google.

My goal is to fill the starter pack, so please send over suggestions with supporting evidence!

Judith Butler Apology Form:
Reason for Behavior:
The media convinced me that feminism was solved in the 1980s
I miss not thinking about gender
I was jealous of their nonbinary swag
I never actually read their work
I didn’t realize how much of society is built on gender
Mercury was in retrograde

I will hereby respect Judith Butler and I will NOT talk down on the best feminist thinker of our lifetimes

My problem with the use cases for history is that it draws conclusions and processes data from only the most complete, digitized, formatted sources--which reinforces power dynamics of the survivance of records etc. into the next wave of "Big Data Says." That's a longer debate. *shrugs*

I have seen a lot of cursed stuff in my time in academia but this is among the *most* cursed.
Grammarly is generating miniature LLMs based on academic work so that users can have their writing β€˜reviewed’ by experts like David Abulafia, who died less than two months ago.

I sometimes include a prompt about time travel on my final exams. One student, riffing on what I'd said about how the US learned the hard way that women could use their charms for espionage: "But I would spy for the Union, and I would be VERY GOOD AT IT." #HATM

1. Battle Cry of Freedom. Black Reconstruction. Confederate Reckoning.

2. Something loosely based on the life of Albert Cashier.

3. Hummus and crackers, nori, lime seltzer, and probably soething with eggs in a bit.

"Old mistress' mother was sick a long time, and little America had to keep the flies off of her by waving a paper fly brush over her bed. She was so mean, America was afraid to go too near the bed for fear she might try to grab and shake her. After she died, she haunted America. Anytime she would go into the room, she could hear her knocking on the wall with her cane. Some nights they would hear her walking up and down the stairs for long periods at a time."
