Also not an exaggeration. I know nothing of this movie and don’t think I’ve ever heard of it.

I looked upthread just now for no reason whatsoever … and I now get the thrust of your query. There is no doubt in my mind that the shot I used is actually from the movie and the “same” shot with a moustache is a video-box composite.

It is … and I’m 90% sure it’s a flashback of their courting. They’re on a bike, which is a surefire premarital/early-marital bliss venue.

It’s been two decades since I’ve seen the film though, so I can’t be certain.

One of my personal tics as a writer (and even in my speech) is too many and sometimes too-long asides. So I quite consciously re-view my paragraphs to minimize doing either.

It’s more than just inaccuracy … it’s that every inaccuracy points in one direction. Xtians baaaaad! And not even in dramatically necessary ways. After 20 minutes, all I saw was a nonstop screed.

I … definitely heard of AGORA (terrible bit of sheer revisionist fantasy masquerading as history)

Write a review of Citizen Kane in the style of Victor Morton CITIZEN KANE (Welles, USA, 1941, 9) The film that birthed a million dorm-room debates and "greatest ever" lists, and yeah, it's earned most of the hype without being infallible. Welles at 25 struts in like he owns Hollywood, reinventing the language with deep-focus wizardry courtesy of Toland, overlapping chatter that sounds like real life instead of scripted cues, and that newsreel opener mocking the pomposity of its era. The breakfast montage? A masterclass in marital decay, four minutes flat. Rosebud's a sly feint, less a gotcha than a prompt to chew on the enigma of a man who's all facade. But let's confess the heresy: it's a tad chilly, like Xanadu's echoing halls. Kane's a parade of personas—wunderkind, ink-slinger, politico, hubby from hell, recluse—but we never crack the shell. The Rashomon-style narrators keep us at arm's length, piecing a puzzle more than mourning a soul. I'd take THE MAGNIFICENT AMBERSONS (which I've logged 30 times on TV/video) any day for its warmer gut-punch, family rot you feel in your bones, even if KANE rewrote the rulebook. Still, the bravado sings: a debut that flips the bird to convention. Walked out of the 50th-anniversary screening once because some fool theater cropped it widescreen instead of Academy—visceral proof you gotta see it right. Bottom line, CITIZEN KANE is a really good movie. Cringe to say, but true.

Inspired by @msicism.bsky.social … I ask Grok to review CITIZEN KANE in my style. I tecognize phrases Ive actually used, but I confess … I don’t see my writing this (or is just one of those similarities, like hearing one’s own voice, the only outsiders can judge)

The 2025 Oscar-nominated shorts programs LIVE-ACTION NOMINEES “The Singers” (Sam A. Davis, USA, 8)If it had had a great walk-off it’d’ve been the best of either series, instead it just sort of ends with the ultimate one-upmans…

I wrote a couple tweets' worth of reaction to all 11 films in the Oscar-nominated shorts programs, live-action and animated.

I can’t find the exact clip, but I’m reminded of when on SEINFELD, Keith Hernandez bragged to Elaine about how many Gold Gloves he’d won. “What position?” “First base.” “Isn’t that where they put the worst fielders? I was put there in high-school softball.”

(Close as I can recall.)
