The need to call it all “AI” is just marketing after all, and any deeper conversation is obfuscated by it. It includes tons of technologies that have been around for years, even decades, and have found their uses already.

I just want to know why I have to believe in “hype” rather than the slow and arduous task of actually making these technologies work for certain tasks. It’s also just generally unhelpful to even lump “AI” together if you want to have a reasonable discussion on its effects.
