Prior to Washington, this went almost literally through my parents' backyard in East Peoria. The 20 minutes between when I called and when they returned my call were the most terrified I'd ever been in my life.

Come work with me! My team is looking for a Senior Scientist to help us create cool data and products to help property insurers respond effectively to weather disasters. Fully remote and a great collaborative team if I do say so myself! fa-ewmy-saasfaprod1.fa.ocs.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candid...

This lupine I planted a couple years back is really going off.

Picture of a grey and black tabby cat sitting on a table glaring at the camera. He's not actually mad, he just looks like it a lot.

Just a little breezy here today. I don't know how we didn't have more than a couple brief power flickers (so far, it's still howling out there).
It is not an exaggeration to say that lives are at stake here. Severe weather season is rapidly approaching. Fewer personnel can and will lead to a lack of awareness of all kinds of weather hazards. Tornadoes. Floods. Winter storms. All of it.

Lacy knit beanie (toque, for the Canadians) in a dusty pink yarn sitting on a black table.
I don't wear much pink/red/hearts, so didn't think I'd have anything to show for this week's #showmeyourknits. But then I remembered this wonderful dusty pink hat I made a couple years back. I bought a pompom for it, but decided I like it better without.
Graphic from NWS Boston showing forecast snowfall amounts tonight over Southern New England along with confidence in timing, amounts, and travel impacts. I am squarely in the 8-12" range.
Bring it. (Just wait until my husband's plane lands at BOS please!)
This was yesterday. Always fascinating to see what grabs their attention. Spoiler: storm chasing (I talked some about how we do weather research, i.e. field work) and hurricanes. Lots of stories about Florida vacations and seeing damage presumably from Ian.

Prepping a talk to a 6th grade science class about wx instrumentation, forecasting, and what mets do. This is SO MUCH FUN and I love that I'm getting a reputation as "weather mom" at my kid's school.

Happy Caturday!
Now seems like a great time to search for blue skies. (The skies over eastern Mass were very blue today after we reached -9F overnight!) Happy to see so many from the other place over here!
