I was able to secure a grant (philanthropic award?) without a formal application from Eli Lilly and Co. this past month I'm not sure whether that counts as philanthropic or not.

Our synthesis of two halicyclamine alkaloids was recently published in @jacs.acspublications.org. Huge credit to all of the graduate student researchers involved. Here is a link to the article: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
My students made some tricky molecules. Proud advisor.

I'm surprised the applicant's soul isn't also required.
Oakwood chemical says they will ship us 25 mL at a shipment cost of ~$300. Has anyone acquired MVK recently who can help?
Hi #chemsky, we are having lots of trouble acquiring methyl vinyl ketone. Several suppliers, @sigmaaldrich.bsky.social, @thermofishersci.bsky.social, claim that they have it, but they actually do not, and they claim they do not know when it will arrive from their supplier.
The Governor doesn't seem to like us for some reason:

Lol especially while driving. Yikes.
This has to be one of the biggest facepalm moments in the modern era.
In terms of bang for buck, the NIH's ROI is one of the highest for a government agency. Cutting this funding is the opposite of ensuring government efficiency. We should not be surprised if we see a massive exodus of researchers from this country.

Thanks Zach! Unfortunately, we need MeLi and not MeMgBr for our chemistry. Thermo had long lead times, so it seems we will have to go with the country club MeLi from Strem. Certainly is a pinch :)
Thanks! We were considering that, but wanted a potentially cheaper alternative. Probably will be what we have to go with.
Hey #chemsky, we are trying to get our hand on a MeLi solution in Ether, but many vendors have shipping timelines of months or up to one year. Any vendors you might suggest for this with a more normal timeline for delivery?
It's our favorite time of year, random comment generator from 19 and 20 year olds! Also known as student reviews. Check these two out:
What a great day for @scripps.edu to celebrate 100 years since its founding. Three of those years are very dear to me. Countless others have benefitted from both the fundamental and translational impact of this institution. Here's to another 100 years.
Potential boon for usage of (-)-sparteine. Now, time for the enantiomer.
