Tonight, a strong, democratic woman came within just points of winning a district that Trump won by 22 points a year ago. While Aftyn didn’t win tonight, she and voters across Tennessee sent a strong message. Every state, every district is in play.

While Democrats keep fighting to re-open the government and for the Trump administration to release the SNAP funds they are willfully withholding, New Mexico is leading the way, and coming together to take care of our familias.
Republicans in Washington should take a lesson from New Mexico and put families over politics. Thank you to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, Attorney General Raúl Torrez, and our legislative leaders for standing up for New Mexican families.

The New Mexican got it right: “In a United States where the poor are scorned, the sick have no health insurance, the foreigner is being rounded up and the imprisoned lack care behind bars, the words of this pope should be cause for reflection.”

From celebrating the history, the traditions and the contributions of our Tribes, Pueblos, Nations, and Indigenous urban communities, to recommitting to addressing the challenges they face - as today comes to a close, we carry these lessons forward.
In New Mexico, we know that Indigenous Peoples' Day is not just one day out of the year - our state's Indigenous communities are deeply ingrained in our heritage, our present, and our future.
It’s time to get back to work, swear in Adelita Grijalva, and save Americans’ health care.
