If the patient got this info unrelated to ingestion, but then figured they could equally try this in food, they could have come to the same conclusion via search engines and websites, theoretically. However it might likely have taken the patient much longer to find this info on their own.
Would be interesting to know what the patient's prompt was. The article suggests the information given by the LLM could have been for another purpose, "such as cleaning".
