This seems to be a risky strategy to provide a huge budget support- which is a form of aid that hands out money to a partner government. Will this tax payerβs money be thoroughly followed and evaluated, like the recent critical investigation on Swedish aid to Somalia?
Swedenβs support to Ukraine was made possible by cutting aid to Global South countries like Myanmar, Liberia, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Bolivia. These countries also need live saving for vital support for their democracy, climate resilience and human securityβ¦
I support the decision to support Ukraine, but this level of budget support comes with serious risks of corruption. We already know the risk of pouring too much money into a country. John F. Sopko, Special Inspector General for Afghanistan spoke about this exact risk of corruption in Ukraine

Supporting racism can be driven by different reasons. I oppose racism in all forms but am sympathetic to people who do and say racist things without understanding what they are doing (I come from conservative family and region). What the far right politics do is to exploit this weakness in society
The political landscape is basically the same here in Swede and similar across Europe. The difference is whether a far right party can rule without coalition or not⦠normalization of the far right politics is scary, witnessing with my own eyes last 15 years or so

Sad state of politics these days!! Someone did this to me years ago as a joke in Sweden. Letβs face it, many people think itβs ok to do the βAsian eyesβ in this part of the world. It was then at least unthinkable that politicians would do this sort of thingsβ¦
How sincere is this apology? If the Finnish politicians are really serious about addressing this everyday racism, they should talk to their own Asian community who suffer from being invisible and ridiculed in this sort of casual racism. Do not apologize just to protect Finnair and Nokiaβ¦
Now the PM has apologized to the Asian nations and instructed to share apologies through social media channels of Finnish embassies in Seoul, Tokyo, and Beijing. This diplomatic apology seems to be driven by the strategic logic to protect the Finnish trade and economic interests in these countries
