Monique Botha (@drmbothapsych.bsky.social)
Autistic and ADHD researcher focusing on minority stress, meta-science, and dehumanization of neurodivergent people in science and research. Big believer in #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs
Wonderful to welcome @drmbothapsych.bsky.social to University of Leeds school of Psychology today, to hear about their important work looking at the language we use when talking about autism and autistic people in research, and how that can dehumanise people.

Between costume wrangling, sorting money for bake sale and 2 "breakfast and book" sessions I felt like I'd already done full day's work by 9am!

This was wildly good folks - if epistemic injustice is even tangentially relevant to your research this is well worth watching (hopefully will share some more thought out thoughts later)

Couldn’t agree more with Ria. I’ve heard multiple stories of access to work being cut for disabled people.
How many more people who don’t have the ability to get their stories to the media have had their access to work made harder or impossible?

Psst hey so this hasn't been formally announced yet but I'm putting together a panel at the end of this month on the topic of transcription for racial justice and I'm looking for 1-2 more speakers who have strong views about this who might be happy to participate. Who should I invite? #AcademicSky

meanwhile shout out to the US for being just so prolific with its examples of institutional shenanigans around unjust activities relating to knowledge production or creation!

Daniel holds a bundle of pom poms of varying colours and sizes to his chest. He is tensing his face, and lifting his knee to his chest.
Tomorrow marks the start of a week spent at the wonderful 'The HopBarn' for my Artist's Residency! Looking forward to drifting around rural spaces, choreographing with #tics, and #DJing rural soundscapes to explore the role of rural affect on my tourettic body 🕺

Red Dwarf's opening
YouTube video by introseries
Sad news about Rob Grant. Tangential to his writing I know, but I could never get over the opening titles of the early series of Red Dwarf, their epic loneliness – what a way to start a sitcom

Looking into a computer screen with a PowerPoint slide reading Disability in Higher Education: A PhD perspective
DR LUCINDA MATTHEWS-JONES
In front is a script, closed laptop with stickers on it on a book, a cup.
Behind a notice board, wires and phone
Today I virtually lead a 2 hour session for AHRC DTP students on disability in higher education at their annual EDI conference. They put together a manifesto that focused on community, advocacy, disability gain and supervision. It was super lovely and engaging and really great space to hangout in.

This is thought-provoking - talks about how openness in arts, hums and soc sci should be viewed as occurring 'in practices like experimental publishing, participatory research methods, and public scholarship', i.e. not just about OA publication or data.
