This is a great first step. We really need to look at the whole game shooting industry.

Violet Oil Beetles, found on Higher Comfort nature reserve.
They like species-rich grassland and woodland edges, which are exactly the habitats we're developing on the nature reserve. They parasitise solitary bees, so are an indicator of a healthy wild bee population.
A picture of a pheasant and wording βIf pheasant releases had the same Environmental Impact Assessments as beaver releases, theyβd be banned.β
5 cards, depicting stonechats, a marsh fritillary butterfly, willow tits, a hare and whitethroats.
Thanks to the generosity of three very talented artists, we're able to sell these beautiful cards on our website.
All proceeds go towards preserving and enhancing habitats on the Culm Measures and raising awareness of their importance.
Enjoy the chilly wind over very dry, very blonde moor grass

Brilliant. Thanks!
It would be great to see all of them, to see the pattern of growth.
Delays in house building, due to land banking and delays by developers are a much bigger issue, but bats and birds don't lobby as effectively as house-builders do.
We should be creating habitat, not dependency.
Fantastic!
It would be even better if it mentioned that they spread avian flu to wild bird populations.
Important statement from @kentwildlife.bsky.social about the way that the government is deliberately misrepresenting what has happened at Ebbsfleet.
π¦ We are looking for Trustees who can bring fresh ideas and new perspectives and are able to join in time to stand for election at our Annual General Meeting in September 2025.

Wondering what Trustees do? Read this thread where we break it down.
Sorry to hear that Beau.
DEFRA pulled the Sustainable Farming Incentive last night, with no notice. This will be a great loss for landowners trying to improve habitats, financial devastation for some environmental consultants and a great loss for biodiversity.
Dyson and Clarkson don't care. There will be no protests.
Yet another reason to reduce fossil fuel use.
If people could see the damage to the sea bed, caused by trawling, it would be banned immediately. The only reason it has gone on so long, is that it's hidden from sight.
Nice find!
It really has been lovely!
We need more scientists in political positions. We need people making decisions who understand evidence based decision making.
They're already in the wild a few miles away.
This World Wildlife Day, why not take a look at the diversity of wildlife recorded near you, via the NBN Atlas? bit.ly/NBNatlas

We really need to relish every bit of good news. It helps to keep our spirits up, when dealing with the onslaught of environmental decline.
Now we just need to clean the rivers up, so they're fit for beavers to inhabit.
Culm grassland and woodland
A lovely view of the culm dominated landscape outside our nature reserve.
We deleted our Twitter account a little while ago. Environmental charities shouldn't be seen to be supporting the Musk, Trump presidency.
It's time to ban driven grouse shooting.
