"the boys are desensitized to death/violence (from being assassins) so they only have extreme reactions to crimes when it's personal, this is depicted as a tragic way to live life" that would be interesting (and logical!), this is not what that's doing though
like -- and again i'm critiquing something that is probably the closest thing normie anime has to "outsider art", which in itself i have no problem with -- i wish this was like 50% less dark OR 50% darker. the bleak/violent scenes but lack of realistic or serious tone otherwise is very clunky
its sort of like scooby doo if the gang was tasked with on-screen killing the baddie of the week, and also another unrelated character was contractually required to die every episode (to further Man Pain)
