I love this
Does it raise questions or does it answer them

“The reason you should care about this is not that it could happen to you but that it is already happening to others. It is happening to people who, we claim, have rights just because we are human.”

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.
Utterly heartbreaking and terrifying for people with disabilities and their families.
The surprise Oscar nominee has a powerful, unexpected message about life under authoritarianism.
What happened to “support our troops”? @nytimes.com

This is so boss.
The @washingtonpost.com went from having an Opinions section to an Opinion (singular) section
I love being trans and having to spend my days waiting for a webinar to see if i, as a subhuman transgender, can get a passport, even after waiting (at this point) like 5 months to hear back about changing a stupid fucking letter on my stupid fucking birth certificate
For @bombmag.bsky.social I spoke to Sophie Madeline Dess about her debut novel “What You Make of Me,” which came out today! bombmagazine.org/articles/202...
“Leaders in higher educational institutions should stand up for their values. Not to pick a fight with Donald Trump or JD Vance,” Michael Roth says. “We should stand up for our values because we’ve said we believed in them for the last many decades now.”

Words by @hughryan.bsky.social on the National Park Service’s erasure of the words “transgender” and “queer” from the Stonewall Monument’s website. slate.com/news-and-pol...
That’s beautiful
"[For the Right], D.E.I...is the mere presence of a woman or nonwhite person or disabled or transgender person in any high-skilled, high-status position. And their alternative isn’t some heretofore unknown standard of merit; it is the reintroduction of something like segregation."

I especially love their catch phrases: “What’s up Captain”, “Let’s split the baby,” “Cool beans,” “Top level…” the corniness paired with the abject immorality and soullessness of their “businesses” is just…macabre.
A coalition of news organizations said in a court filing that video exhibits from a Jan. 6 riot case had "disappeared" from a government platform that provided access to evidence used in court.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren addresses Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) shutdown protest:
"For every American who doesn't want some weird Elon Musk suck-up searching through your personal private data, this is your fight."
“I think the strategy here is: ‘Well, we’re just going to do it and dare somebody to stop us, and by the time they stop us, we’ll have destroyed it.’”

Chris Murphy: "We have days to stop the destruction of our democracy ... we are taking back this country from Elon Musk."
I am thinking back to whipping Obamacare votes in the senate online. How tired I am of begging senators for my life and that of everyone in this country.
We were just told that they won’t let us in. They are denying entry to 2 dozen members of Congress. Elon Musk has all our private information & we have no idea what he’s doing with it. This is happening completely behind closed doors. HELL NO. It’s illegal. We demand oversight!
They are violating the constitution and if we don’t urge our representative to block this, many, many more unconstitutional acts will follow.
Congressional delegation outside USAID now: “We are here to shed a light on a crime unfolding before our eyes.”
One thing we've learned since 1/20 with painful clarity is that our institutions are far more fragile than we could have ever imagined.
thank you, senator @schatz.bsky.social
President Trump has promised a “colorblind and merit-based” society, while also aligning himself with those who are brandishing the term DEI as a catchall for discrimination against white people, and using it as a pejorative to attack nonwhite and female leaders as unqualified for their positions.
The president can veto or support legislation. He can make recommendations to Congress. But he doesn't have the unilateral right to change laws.
Trump has very little respect for the rule of law & our Constitution. He is moving us toward authoritarianism.
We must stop him.
When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.
