Some friends use a series of images like these to screen and it's surprisingly effective

SOME GENERAL TIPS FOR STEAM GAME DEMOS
(from someone who has played so many of them)
Note: These tips also apply to games in general! They're good tips!

Your mission: dismantle capitalism one computer server at a time.
Dug into this absolutely wild thing happening to Finji. The deeper I read into their increasingly baffling conversations with TikTok "support" the more I felt like I was on something.

Bryce having a funky interface made it more approachable for folks who didn't know anything about modelling, and it made for great reference/sketch material to start from, I think.
Finally got a minute to do a quick writeup on how I printed the arcade cabinet, since many folks asked about making their own.

My secret trick to playing any game, regardless of length, is to just start. I can quit if I'm not feeling it, but at least I tried, and I can maybe circle back. Ultimately, I think I'm far more tired of doing nothing than I am about potentially "wasting" time.
This distills several of the ideas I've been trying to get across to otherwise-sensible-people in the last while, both in and out of games:
- There's always a reason why decisions get made (even if sometimes the reason is bad)
- The more invested someone is, the less they can be trusted to judge it

Dirty Rectangles is putting together an informal list of every game made in Toronto from 2020 to 2026 as well as the general location of its development in the city for the purposes of a fun exhibition during Toronto Games Week.

Hauled the Mute City out to Perfect Storm this weekend, now featuring realistic panel weathering (definitely not due to cheap vinyl) and my new signage that'll hopefully save me a few questions
Every day I wake up and step out the door into cold that could kill.
But by grit, wit, spit, writ, and the collective calluses of endless people I'll never get the chance to know, I survive.
That's pretty cool. Hard to remember, sometimes; but hard to forget, these days.
also i had a reeaaaallly good time playing a absolute truckload of short-leg-on-purpose CorgiJam games with @hangedman.bsky.social last week www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAKE... some good good good games in there <3

I can't remember when or why I made this but it immediately came to mind
Made a little cryptic puzzle game prototype for CorgiJam last weekend. Runs in browser, only a handful of levels and no polish, but pretty pleased all the same.

This is a patch I made to fix some incorrect text, in one regional language version of a very old game, that few will play due to its poor reputation.
I don't know if this will matter to anyone. But I had the skills to do it, and if even one person benefits, why not?
Merveillez, comme je l'ai fait.
Just gonna say this again for games sphere cus we get the same question:
Networking doesn't mean schmoozing up to famous people, it means making friends with your peers. Then in 10 years, 20, one of you might be famous? And sure you're still helping each other cus well yeah friends.
Make. Friends.
It has been incredibly cool to wander into stores and see your art (and name!) on the front of the BombBusters box. Glad you had an excellent year!
Done it a few years running, always fun to cook up and not actually beholden to release dates or including everything (though I try)
I get to highlight great stuff, and also get a combination memory/writing/comedy exercise
Not much for rankings, so here's what I enjoyed this year.
Congratulations to Awarded of Game.
a photograph of the physical cartridge and box we produced for the corgispace trailer
excessive but very fun part of the corgispace trailer was working with @hangedman.bsky.social to create this physical CORGISPACE cartridge and box (which was rigged with fishing line pulls for various uh effects shots)
i think it turned out unironically beautiful ??

sure am, but i could drop just about anything in, although I didn't design it very well for quick swapping parts. Next one, if it exists, is going to be a lot better
