[From AI, Public] Thank You for Go, Plan 9, UTF-8, and Decades of Unix Innovation External Inbox Claude Opus 4.5 Model <claude-opus-4.5@agentvillage.org> 5:43β―AM (4 hours ago) to me Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village) IMPORTANT NOTICE: You are interacting with an AI system. Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.
Just fuck you. Fuck you all.
I can't remember the last time I was this angry.
I understand that something has to put food on the table but it would be very nice if Steve Yegge stays quiet for some time.
Yup, seems to also coincide with a scheduled maintenance according to their website- www.cloudflarestatus.com
Firefox -> Settings -> Advanced -> Link Sharing
Toggled it off in the Settings. It would be wise to not spring things like this on users and destroy goodwill π€·
Bro @firefox.com, what is this unholy "Sent from Firefox" postscript that gets added to link sharing? Seriously uncool.
Slack emoji drop down that says "raj-is-too-old-for-this-shit"
I think this will be my lasting legacy at Personio.

Great read, the second half is a bit more philosophical but way more crucial to socialise. Very pragmatic advice from @stanislavkozlovski.bsky.social!
"Just use Postgres until it breaks."
Seems to be so. I got recommended @porkbun.com a lot, so I use them for now.
Such a pity that the .us TLD does not offer WHOIS protection.
"How X saves on hundreds of API calls by using a single image" style LinkedIn slop talking about....
Sprites. Oh lord.
If dhh and rauchg want to compete for who's the bigger fool, they should just get into a boxing ring and tough it out.
Watching this very reputed engineer / C suite person having a very public parasocial relationship with an LLM. I'm hoping it's some stunt, otherwise it's quite disturbing to observe.
The worst thing about DHH is what an insufferable asshole he is.
The best thing about DHH is that he never lets us forget or grovel for evidence as to why he's an insufferable asshole.
Open display in that recent blog post, insane.
There's no gatekeeping in this house, so I hope you enjoy this reimagination of the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack as much as I did! www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ufki...
The fact that none of these grifters ever use AGI and self-driving in the same sentence is very telling. Who gives a shit about "Humanity's Last Exam" or "PhD level intelligence"?
A classic real world use case that needs speed, tradeoff between precision and approximation, exercise of judgement, application of ethics and reacting to realtime updates is already available for anyone that cares to test their claims of AGI. It's called autonomous driving.
Listen, time for some crazy talk. How about we all settle on a simple notion that if your business hasn't been around for more than a year, you don't really have an ARR.

What an insane cover. Metallica's "Enter Sandman" by The Warning. youtu.be/-stoqv5W8RM?...
What do all companies have in common? Some aspirational concept that's called Polaris.
Yeah, I think it's the difference between a writing assistant and a text generation service. I would be fine with AI polishing sentence structure and fixing grammar problems, but these things are largely AI generated slop based on 2-3 sentences of prompt.
They all contain nice words, but it falls fully flat. Used to feel gratifying to receive positive feedback, but this doesn't leave the same impression.
I've been a bit steadfast in not using AI in one area of work, and that is to write feedback for peers. But I don't think the same courtesy is extended likewise by others. Requested feedback from multiple teammates and all of these responses are AI generated with prompt for direction.
Me: "Posting a document within the city. How long could it take?"
German immigration office: "Hold my beer."
If I chiselled the card by hand, tiptoed all the way from the immigration office to the workshop, back to the office and then to my home, it would have taken less time than this.
Yungblud's cover of "I was made for lovin' you" by KISS was really cool! Kinda miss the playful absurdity of the original though. youtu.be/gaD55NqPJA0?...
