Nice to see see you're over here as well!

Next Tuesday (6May) I'll be speaking at @palaeopercs.bsky.social about my research on bone morphology and the #3D methods I develop (or help develop)! If you want to see some 3D bones ππ¦΄π©», you can join (discover how in the thread π)

Next week at #PalaeoPERCS we will be joined by Alessio Veneziano (@aveneziano.bsky.social ) from the MusΓ©um National dβHistoire Naturelle, France.

Manuscript Figure 2: Photographs of the SD-1663 right partial os coxae in different views. A) lateral, B) medial, C) anterolateral focused on the acetabulum, and D) Zoomed in view of the eroded acetabular margin that is also crushed superomedially. The fossil preserves most of the acetabulum, part of the superior pubic ramus, part of the ischial body, and part of the iliac blade. The greater sciatic notch is fully preserved and is a narrow, J-shape.
New #OpenAccess article alert!
@paleonicole.bsky.social led this first description of a partial right #Neandertal hipbone from El SidrΓ³n, Spain that expands the range of morphological variation in Neandertals.
Read it here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Well, yes, I led it but TOTALLY IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT YOUR SUPPORT! And you know that π

Our paper about the first description and comparative analyses of the partial Neanderthal hipbone of El SidrΓ³n (Asturias, Spain) is published!!.

This is a weird request, but anyone in Baltimore area want to help me collect tap water samples this summer? I can give you some vials, you go to a couple restaurants/grocery stores/public water fountains and we get some critical science done for forensic work
A quick tour of the Wits hominin vault before we start a days work on the 105 site fossils
OHHH!!!! Looking forward to seeing you, Heather!!!! ππ
Don't forget to pick up your Open Science items at the #AABA2025 registration desk! Join us on the several open science events happening in the next 3 days!
Don't forget to participate in the survey we organised with Lumila MenΓ©ndez
on Open Science/Open Data in Bioanthro: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F... We would like to represent as many ideas as possible on this relevant matter! Please share the link and spread the word!
A Paranthropus robustus fossil from Swartkrans shows it walked uprightβand was tiny. Was it also a tool user? Researchers are investigating. #HumanEvolution #FossilFind #ParanthropusRobustus #Swartkrans

Cartoon showing a woman looking in to a microscope saying "Whoaah!!!" The caption states "The best part of Science is knowing, for a moment, something that nobody else in the world knows"
A reminder in these hard times. #sciencestrong
Hi there! Who is going to #AABA2025 in Baltimore?
Es hoy?
ICArEHB is accepting expressions of interest for PhD topics, including a project led by @ricardomgodinho.bsky.social and me:

Yesterday we had an awesome day in UNESCO World Heritage Preda-Bergun route, in Switzerland π¨π. This was thanks to the Institute of Evolutionary Medicine, UZH. Snow, sledging, unimaginable views, good company and a lot of fun! π Fully recharged for the next few weeks!!
π€©This #Friday, we are excited to announce the 5th VCWAP program! π The full program is now available on our official website β¬οΈ

Hi everyone! The Yearbook of Biological Anthropology is now on BlueSky! Please give the journal a follow: @yearbookbioanth.bsky.social
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is always a bittersweet one: it is time for awareness of the benefits of gender equality to advance science, but when we are promoting scientific careers... what careers are those?
Encantada de haber contribuido a esta iniciativa por @mcotsar.bsky.social . Β‘Gracias por darnos voz, siempre! Es importante hablar alto, claro y sin miedo de estos problemas y de nuestras experiencias.
My colleagues Lumila MenΓ©ndez and I are organizing a survey on data sharing and open science practices and impacts on research, in Bioanth and related fields. If you are interested in participating, please send me an email and I will share the link with you!
An absolute pleasure to contribute to this project led by @paleonicole.bsky.social and @liabetti.bsky.social. Pubic symphysis fusion in primates is fascinating and complicated, and studying it is shedding light on the 'obstetrical dilemma'.
