It's one of those things where we have overvalued sports in this country and that you show any interest in it, you must do it competitively. On top of that, it's another way for us to be famous and make our families proud. And it's all bullshit.

I was reading something about a person realizing how sports have become unfun for children now a days. Part of me wants to be kind about it, but I honestly don't know where this person has been in the last 20 years at least. It has been, for a lot of US white children, for a long time, not been fun.
