Last night was a powerful reminder of what democracy can look like at its best. I’m so grateful to Jews United for Justice for hosting a beautiful fundraiser in support of both me and @aparnafordc.bsky.social as we run for DC Council in Ward 1.

Loved every second of this dance party with my Ward 1 seniors at the Bernice Elizabeth Fonteneau Wellness Center! 💃🏾✨ So grateful for spaces like the Center that keep our seniors active, connected & thriving. This is why we fight for strong investments in wellness, recreation & community programming.

Great meeting up w/former DC Councilmember Frank Smith and getting a sneak peek at the exciting new renovations at the African American Civil War Museum that elevate the powerful stories of Black soldiers & freedom fighters who shaped our nation. Ward 1 is rich with Black history. #BlackHistoryMonth
Today, we honor the life and legacy of Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr. — a freedom fighter, presidential candidate, and unwavering champion for Black empowerment. Rev. Jackson showed our nation what was possible when Black leadership was bold, organized, and unapologetic about demanding justice.
Breaking News: The Rev. Jesse Jackson, whose fiery speeches and populist vision made him a charismatic champion of civil rights, died at 84.
Jesse Jackson, whose impassioned oratory and vision of a “rainbow coalition” of the poor and forgotten made him the nation's most influential Black figure in the years between the civil rights crusades of Martin Luther King Jr. and the election of Barack Obama, died on Tuesday at 84. Follow live.

Enjoyed speaking with the DC Association of Realtors and hearing more about their priorities for our city.
This Valentine’s Day, my heart is full ❤️.
I know so many of us are carrying fear right now. Fear about our democracy. Fear about what’s happening in our city and across the country. Fear about whether our voices will still matter tomorrow.
And that fear is real.
But love is real too.
Wanting to share a personal story discussing World Cancer Day and how it has personally impacted 💙 .

Yesterday, I had the chance to tour the LGBTQ+ Community Center of Washington, D.C., and truly, it felt like home. From the Closet Room, to the library, to the shared meals cooked with care, to the art lining the walls that tells our stories with pride and honesty, every corner reflects belonging.

I'd like to extend a huge thank you to all of my supporters in Ward 1, who helped make January’s filing period such a success. I’m excited to continue the work and keep building a people-powered campaign that we can all be proud of!
Today, it was a pleasure visiting the African American Civil War Museum! I had a wonderful time learning about the powerful history that lives within these walls and hearing about the exciting new exhibit halls currently in development.
Clean streets are a basic city service, and our neighbors shouldn’t be left guessing when or if collection will happen. I’ve been in direct communication with our Councilmember and fellow ANC Commissioners to push DPW for answers and immediate follow-up where service was missed.
Rashida at the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center.
It was great meeting this lovely senior at the Bernice Fonteneau Senior Wellness Center yesterday morning. I went to yoga, we watched high on the hog documentary for the wellness workshop and it was great having lunch together, laughing and chatting!

Weekend Recap 💙 ! It was cold this weekend in Mt. Pleasant, but I had such a great time! Between gathering petitions and chatting with neighbors, I got to connect with so many amazing constituents.
Cold weather and warm conversations ❄️ 💙! I had an amazing afternoon yesterday meeting voters, gathering petitions, and sharing why I'm running. I am so thankful for everyone who showed up and made it such a great day.

Happy Black History Month, Ward 1🤎!
Black history isn’t just something we honor in February, it’s lived, built, and preserved every day in Ward 1. From our black businesses to our communities and beyond, I am proud to be apart of tradition and core values.
While we wait for leaders to take meaningful action and ensure accountability, we as a community must honor those we’ve lost—lifting up their names, their humanity, and our shared demand for justice and safety for all.
Ward 1—this is hard. Please take care of yourselves, check in with the people you love, and make space for joy. Life is love, and love is life. ❄️❤️

Huge thank you to Bike Walk Bus PAC for the opportunity to share my vision for a safer, more accessible D.C. and what that means for Ward 1.
Ward 1 neighbors, what improvements would you like to see for biking, walking and buses in D.C.💭

I’m so grateful for the support we’ve felt from our Ward 1 community already 💙.
We’re heading into a pivotal week and are just $1,350 away from our fundraising goal. If you’re able, please consider chipping in up to $50 to help us cross the finish line and keep reaching voters where they are.

These past two days, I’ve had the opportunity to join leaders from across the country at the Aspen Institute’s Ascend Forum on Children and Families. Spaces like these allow me to learn, reflect, and bring back new ideas that strengthen how I plan to show up for Ward 1 families ❤️💪🏽!
