Natasja - Fiction Editor

@natasja-lit-editor

I work mostly with indie authors. I love getting a new book and helping the author give it that final polish. I love fantasy, romance, science fiction, and speculative fiction. So if you need an editor, feel free to get in touch. Www.cozycorneredits.com

Which are you using and what is one thing you learned about perspective that you wished you knew when you started out?

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you'll succeed one way or the other. Perseverence is key.

A big part of querying is staying positive. The right agent for you is out there.

Have you thought about self publishing? I've been hearing quite a few authors who received rejections because their books were niche say that they're doing great on their own and that the readers are out there.

This seems like she's saying it's her, not your book. Have you had beta readers yet? If you get a few, you can get a range of opinions. You can see if any of them echo the agent and then ask them specifics.

So I had a question today about action beats interrupting a sentence, and where the em dashes should go.
The em dashes set off the action beat, no commas.

For ex:
"This"--I gestured to the book in front of me--"is what your work should look like."

That sounds interesting. How's the querying going?

What's your book about?

Totally agree. I consume audiobooks almost exclusively. It helps with overlooking simple errors/typos in books. I also just love a good voice actor.

Tip #3
Get an editor. I passed more than half of the BookFunnel offerings because there were very obvious errors. It's not enjoyable to read an error-filled book.

If you're on a budget and thinking you can't afford an editor, get in touch and let's see if I can help.

Tip #2
Proofread your blurb. It's the second thing readers look at when you've captured their attention enough with your cover. A poorly written blurb will lose you readers just as fast as if your cover isn't good.

Tip #1
A genre related cover is your first hook. If you don't have a good cover, or your cover doesn't convey your genre, readers will either not bother looking twice, or they'll be dispointed when the cover doesn't match the genre.

So I just opened a BookFunnel page offering scifi and fantasy reads. There were a lot of good books with interest covers, but when I opened them to read the blurbs, there were the most basic errors. #Authors, your cover and blurb are two of the most important aspects. Read on for some tips.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros, Shadow Rites by Faith Hunter, and The Host by Stephanie Meyer. Who else juggles multiple audio/books at once?

I know what you mean. This has happened to me numerous times. I'm currently enjoying Shadow Rites by Faith Hunter. Khristine Hvam is a great voice actor.

It really depends. For some people TT works great, for others Amazon ads, and for others still, FB ads. Some people focus on just one avenue, and others use a combination. What stays consistent throughout, however, is having a genre-related cover and a book that's been edited.
