Can you recommend papers in epidemiology/biomedicine that do causal inference on observational data and thoroughly and explicitly discuss their underlying causal model and assumptions ? @dingdingpeng.the100.ci #episky

Thanks for being here in 2025! I appreciate all the support π
This week is ideal to draft your submission for the #MindBrainBody Symposium 2026 so that you can let it rest over the (potential) holidays and finalise it first thing in 2026 (deadline: January 8, 2026). π
Looking forward to seeing you there and - in case - happy holidays! ππ§ π«π«
Congrats Erin! Was great to have briefly met again yesterday :) looking very much forward seeing the future work of your new lab

And the excellent work by Deniz Kucukahmetler on a geometry-agnostic look at how neural models learn dynamics β where forecasting accuracy meets alignment, at the #NeurIPS workshop #NeurReps as well.

Poster session of the workshop βNew Perspectives in Advancing Graph Machine Learningβ on Sunday, Dec. 7 (unfortunately Elham was not able to come, so I happily collect your questions for her)
(7/x)
First, the great work by my colleague Elham Gholamzadeh introducing a Graph Neural Network framework that leverages large-scale pairwise microbial interaction data to accurately predict both simple & complex interspecies interaction outcomes, outperforming traditional #ML approaches.
(6/x)
(5/x) Check out further work from our group led my Nico Scherf at #NeurIPS:
Super proud to have co-supervised this cool work with Nico Scherf! Also big thanks to @michaelgaebler.com for his great input to the project. β¨
There is even more to come β¦

In case you are in San Diego, meet me on Sunday, Dec. 7, at our poster. (3/x)
Led by Nahid Torbati, we propose novel geometric approaches using Ollivier Ricci Curvature & Ricci Flow for representational analysis of human-aligned #DL models that match human behavior in a large-scale perceptual paradigm exploring face similarity judgements under 2D&3D viewing conditions. (2/x)
Iβm very delighted to share the great news that we will present on this yearβs #NeurIPS 2025 workshop on Symmetry and Geometry in Neural Representations (NeurReps).

Nick (@willenjoy.bsky.social) is obsessed with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). And for good reason! It could explain many results. Our simulation toolbox meegsim enables setting up SNR of individual sources as well as SNR of all signal sources with respect to all noise sources.

π’Our peer-reviewed article about the AffectTracker is finally out! π²πΉοΈπ
Traditional methods for rating emotion often miss the dynamic, moment-to-moment nature of feelings. We designed a tool to capture this continuous affective experience in real-time during dynamic emotional stimulation.
I am excited to share our latest research published in the EJEP! We used GAMMs to apply Roseβs theoretical work to prevention strategies targeting social isolation. Our results indicate that population strategies are more promising than individualized interventions.
