I said I wasn't going to elaborate but I would like you to think critically about why it is that The Mona Lisa is your shorthand for "high art". What is it about the Mona Lisa that first attracted you? Do you have a specific opinion on the techniques involved? When did you last see it in person?
Even in rebelling against this I know I will continue to perpetuate it because I can't otherwise engage with critique of art as a whole. The fact that I feel like I have to argue for the elimination of a cultural hierarchy feels like an admission of shame in my position at the base of said hierarchy
Our signifiers for what is "Intelligent" or "profound" or "worthwhile" in art are ironically deeply stupid and superficial and we may entirely lack the tools to extricate ourselves from this straitjacket and just have to struggle against it forever
I won't elaborate on this so i'm essentially just tossing a hand grenade here and sprinting but I think maybe humans have fundamentally damaged our own ability to talk about art permanently and severely because we think there is a distinction between "schlock" and "real"
You'll never get Takeya to do more than one set piece specific design... there are so many possibilities here!! In a new setting, how does the "artificial angel" base concept work? Are there even "Angels" in the same sense? Who designs them??
Somehow I feel like it'd be odd to have Yamashita do a *third* reprisal but seeing him morph into the Okawara "Legacy designer" of Eva wouldn't be unwelcome either if someone else also gets a chance at the bat. Ippei Gyoubu feels like a real possibility.. the dream is a monster like Takeya

Speaking as someone who adores the way that Rebuild's cyclical temporal/kalpa style connection (Inherited from Devilman) makes it a "sequel" to the original in conversation with it: If they do anything even remotely like that in this new series i'll be sorely disappointed.
I'm hoping that this is the thing Anno mentioned at one point about wanting Eva to become similar to the Gundam model where there are recurring archetypes but within successive new settings. If Taro is building from whole cloth rather than continuity with the Anno project then i'm honestly excited
