One of the greatest things anyone has ever said to me was to explain that when you randomly decide to pick up a rock it’s because the rock has decided it wants to travel. It gives me joy to ponder.

Keep calm, and put your dog on tick medicine! No need to panic!
I had a great time talking about #BrownDogTicks with Michael Phipps-Russell of Loving All Animals. Thank you for having us, Will Dean of Desert Healthcare District and Foundation! dhcd.org/podcast
The photograph depicts the ESA Publications booth at Entomology 2025. There is a column that says "Publish with purpose" behind a table and two chairs. The conference center expo hall can be seen behind the column.
Now that you've presented your research at #EntSoc25, when you're ready to publish, publish with ESA! Learn more about ESA publications: academic.oup.com/insect-scien...
Two women stand together smiling on a stage with insect images in the background. One holds a wooden gavel in her left hand.
The last day of #EntSoc25 marked the yearly transition in ESA volunteer leadership, as 2025 President Lina Bernaola (left) passed the gavel to 2026 President Melissa Siebert (right). ESA thanks Lina for her service to the Society and we look forward to Melissa’s stewardship of our community in 2026!
Three women stand indoors in front of a display with large insect and butterfly models, wooden panels, and greenery. All are smiling and wearing conference badges.

Gareth bedecked in mismatched florals. The return of the rainbow soled shoes. Behind him are towers of pastels.

#Coachella day 3. @gfun.bsky.social has found an array of colors by embracing the floral theme of the festival. Making friends with pastel arts.

If you saw someone in bright orange, it might have been @gfun.bsky.social !

Attracting some attention playing with the orange flowers at the art installation. Gareth dressed in orange with one foot up and ready to step on me. Behind him are giant orange and pink flowers. In the sky is the Goodyear blimp.
#Coachella Day 2. Gareth has learned about color after day 1 in black and white. He has embraced orange as the reason for all things. Making new friends around the festival.
Lady Gaga from a long way away, being carried aloft by a throng of white-outfitted dancers. She has some interesting finger extensions on. Her set was amazing!
Maxim and Liam of The Prodigy, bathed in deep red lighting. Significant numbers of older British people (ahem) at the front for this one, raving against the years like it was 1993.
Missy Elliott (small) standing in front of a projection of herself (large) on the big screen. Tremendous fun dancing to the classics, getting one's freak on, etc.
The Marias, splendid, slinky sounds with a hint of guitar. They show up on my music feeds all the time, so clearly this is the sort of thing I am supposed to like. And I do!
#Coachella day 1! Yes, it's an opportunity to wear spectacular outfits and gain exposure for your Insta, but one can also take the opportunity to see music! Shown here: Lady Gaga, The Prodigy, Missy Elliott and The Marias. Simply splendid!

I've been absent lately, but it wouldn't be April if I skipped sharing @gfun.bsky.social and his outfits at #Coachella. Day 1 and I spent most of the day trying to pique his interest in color.
