Let me be clear: Iβm glad Kristi Noem was fired. But we still have to abolish ICE.

What, and I cannot stress this enough, the fuck
What just happened in Dallas County is one of the most blatant voter suppression operations I've ever seenβand it happened in a *primary*.
In March. Imagine November.
I broke it down here:

WSJ Edit Page for my entire adult life: Spy on everyone. Jail everyone nonwhite. Better everyone making less than $75,000 starve than I pay $10 in taxes. Crack that immigrantβs head. Steal her baby. Make that 15 year old give birth. Invade, bomb and pillage across the world.
Also WSJ Edit Page:
I urge you to stop what you're doing and watch Alysa Liu's free skate from yesterday. I have never seen anything like this. I understand why sports writers are born now. I have never seen anyone as free from the burdens of this world as this pierced Oakland girl spinning to Donna Summers.
While the 23-year-old's death was reported in March 2025, it was not made clear that a federal agent fired the fatal shot. ICE agent killed US citizen in Texas-public didn't know for a year

The "American Dream" shouldn't be a lottery or a gauntlet; it should be a contract. If you work, follow the rules, and contribute, the door stays open. Itβs time to move past the era of fear and build an immigration system that actually functions for the 21st century. πΊπΈπ§€
Security doesn't have to mean shackling people on buses. It can mean biometric "Pre-Check" systems and transparent legal paths that make illegal crossing the hardest option, not the only one left.
We need a "Statutory Staircase."
β
Mandated max processing times (18 months or you're in).
β
Market-based visas that scale with the economy, not arbitrary 1920s numbers.
β
Community sponsorship models that replace private prisons with local support.
How do we get back that "feeling of possibility" while maintaining safety?
It starts by admitting that chaos is what makes us feel unsafe. Backlogs, "no-release" policies, and arbitrary caps create a shadow population. Order is the real security.
Since 1990, weβve been stuck in the "Enforcement Era." Security has been used as a cudgel to replace possibility. Weβve traded Ellis Islandβs prodding fingers for digital surveillance and 135,000 detention beds. Itβs an expensive, inhumane failure.
To fix this, we have to look at how we got here. US history moves in waves:
πͺ 1776-1881: The Open Door (Raw survival)
π« 1882-1920: The Era of Exclusion (The first "gates")
π 1921-1964: National Quotas (Isolationism)
π€ 1965-1990: Civil Rights/Hart-Celler (Hope & Family)
Today, the immigrant experience isn't defined by the "Open Door" of 1850 or even the complex paperwork of 1965. Itβs defined by "The Liminal Space"βa state of permanent anxiety where your right to exist depends on which way the political wind is blowing this week.
We love to call ourselves a "nation of immigrants," but our current reality looks more like a nation of jailers. ICE has spent the last decade shifting from a regulatory agency to a paramilitary force that treats "foreignness" as a presumptive crime. π§΅

NEW: A page from Bondi's burn book. This is a list of the searches by Rep Jayapal of the unredacted Epstein files. That means the DOJ grabbed her search terms from the computers they set up for members of congress to view the Epstein files to use as ammunition. The photo is from Reuters.
I love how they're reading descriptions of the articles when introducing them during committee hearings now. www.youtube.com/live/1o2b26y...
