I love their happy little faces. Hope they return for you!
Stunning perspective.
"...carrying stories in his pockets." Love this.
Caring for nature is a far more worthwhile venture with the greatest rewards. Enjoy your oasis of peace. It is beautiful.
Welcome! It truly is a great community here.
Johnny Jump-Up. They live up to their name...jumping out of the bounds of your garden. They do spread a bit but I love them.
Get the iNaturalist app and upload the photo. It will tell you what it is. www.inaturalist.org
Fabulous for educational programs! Will check this out for future programming.
How absolutely wonderful! We used to have a Dutch elm when I was little but it got Dutch Elm disease. So the slippery elm is as close as I'll get to having one.
Enjoy your trees!
Crocuses and snowdrops have been up since March. I let them grow wild on the front lawn, leftovers from my mom's old flower bed. One beautiul Blue Pearl crocus appeared only once in 2020, never to be seen again. I keep hoping it will return one day.
Yes, do it and let us know!
I ask that question often whenever I find the rules of society infringing on true freedom.
How awesome! A gift from Nature! Do you know what kind of elm it is? I had a slippery elm suddenly appear under my porch. I'm letting it grow but keep it trimmed.
Nice little surprises!
Thank you! Very helpful! May you enjoy a prolific harvest!
What improvements are you considering? I'm trying my very first batch of potatoes this year. Helpful hints?
I love when the snowdrops arrive! It means spring is coming soon! Didn't know about how they generate heat to push up past the snow!
Asters! During a rewilding of my yard, I discovered lovely wood asters that require no care, and the pollinators love them! I also added swamp asters and New England asters. I especially love how they last late into the fall.
APRIL IS NATIONAL NATIVE PLANT MONTH
My Eco-Garden at Kovalosky Studios is among the organizations supporting the designation of April as National Native Plant Month through native plant education and native habitat restoration.

Spring is (almost) sprung! Snowball hanging out in my mulberry grove while I check out the post-winter state of my Monarch Sanctuary.

Looks like there was a upgrade to the site. Looks like it's up: plants.usda.gov
This is AWESOME news! I built a Monarch Sanctuary in my backyard a few years ago when I learned monarch numbers started drastically declining. And I'm rewilding my entire property with native plants. Every little bit helps.
The woods surrounding my grandparents' farm were always a place where I could truly be myself to play and explore nature. I moved to Boston, then Montreal as an adult, but nature always called me back. I returned to my rural hometown where I am developing an Eco-Garden that brings the woods to me.
What a powerful and inspiring creative act resulting in a beautiful (and ephemeral) work of art. My kind of dinner party.
"Inspiration...is everywhere.... I'm glad there are still people who spurn conformism and value creativity, who create thoughtful art and work to protect nature and civic life. They aren't famous. But they're all around you."

Love Balint! Can you share her with us on the other side of the border? We have Elise Stefanik - she has obviously been MIA now that she's "moving up the ladder." Not that she was helpful to our district anyway.
Excellent article. Knew these existed in England, but not in our area.
Whitehall, NY is a stunningly beautiful town that has been in decline for decades. It's also my hometown. A group of local residents are coming together to bring it back. I'm exploring how Arts & Culture can support efforts to revitalize downtown and bring in more tourism. #arts #revitalization
Yes. Kudos.
All the best people!
