I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.
I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

Quote about the helplessness the Dutch felt as people they knew were being taken away by Nazis.
Took this picture in the Dutch Resistance Museum recently. History rhymes in a terrifying way sometimes.
Here's a thread featuring clips of key moments from the DC Metropolitan Police body camera footage of the March 17, 2025 DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace that I obtained as a result of my FOIA lawsuit:
This puts me at 10 people released. I filed my 1st habeas petition 29 days ago. I am an incredibly small-time, nobody lawyer who knew nothing about immigration law the day I submitted that case. I barely know any more today. I had never sued the federal government and now I've beaten them 10 times.

NEWS: Americans were told to evacuate the Middle East — but the State Dept is not helping them do it.
We called the State hotline. First thing you hear is an automated message: "Do not rely on the U.S. government for assisted departure or evacuation."
Abolish ICE has a +11 approval — which means it is *32 points* more popular than Donald Trump
Ask yourself: does corporate media portray that accurately?
Jesus. And as someone commented, you need ID to vote in Kansas, so there are significant downstream effects, as well.
The political effects of X's feed algorithm https://doi.org/10.1038/s41586-026-10098-2 Received: 16 December 2024 Accepted: 4 January 2026 Published online: 18 February 2026 Open access • Check for updates Germain Gauthier,5, Roland Hodler?5, Philine Widmer35 & Ekaterina Zhuravskaya3,4,5 m Feed algorithms are widely suspected to influence political attitudes. However, previous evidence from switching off the algorithm on Meta platforms found no political effects'. Here we present results from a 2023 field experiment on Elon Musk's platform X shedding light on this puzzle. We assigned active US-based users randomly to either an algorithmic or a chronological feed for 7 weeks, measuring political attitudes and online behaviour. Switching from a chronological to an algorithmic feed increased engagement and shifted political opinion towards more conservative positions, particularly regarding policy priorities, perceptions of criminal investigations into Donald Trump and views on the war in Ukraine. In contrast, switching from the algorithmic to the chronological feed had no comparable effects. Neither switching the algorithm on nor switching it off significantly affected affective polarization or self-reported partisanship. To investigate the mechanism, we analysed users' feed content and behaviour. We found that the algorithm promotes conservative content and demotes posts by traditional media. Exposure to algorithmic content leads users to follow conservative political activist accounts, which they continue to follow even after switching off the algorithm, helping explain the asymmetry in effects. These results suggest that initial exposure to X's algorithm has persistent effects on users' current political attitudes and account-following behaviour, even in the absence of a detectable effect on partisanship.
A new paper shows that less than 2 months of exposure to Twitter’s algorithmic feed significantly shifts people’s political views to the right.
Moving from chronological feed to the algorithmic feed also increases engagement.
This is one of the most concerning papers I’ve read in awhile.
This movie was offensively terrible and terribly offensive. Its treatment of women - especially young women - is particularly disheartening. “Just keep harassing your babysitter until she gives you nudes” is *really* a terrible message to send.
Interesting post about the coordinated anti-AOC smear campaign. It's 2016 again! Fake local news outlets on Facebook getting picked up until eventually it winds up in the Washington Post.
Pretty amazing that comms person at FBI called my @ms.now colleague @kendilanian-nbc.bsky.social a liar and demand a correction only for Kash to post a photo from the locker room
The number of people who consider Jackie Robinson and Muhammad Ali heroes and then blasted, say, Kaepernick or Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf is dumbfounding.
Moreso if you’ve actually read Robinson’s autobiography and his thoughts on standing for the anthem.
Literally at a resistance museum right now:
I documented 500+ news stories, and was able to positively identify party affiliation on 138 of the perpetrators of CSA.
Ratio was 128:9:1 Republicans to Democrats to Libertarians.
If I used a less rigorous filter, it was 247:10:1.
I stopped because it messed up my mental health for months.

There’s a lot of confusion about what’s happening on the ground in the Twin Cities right now, so I want to share an update from a community meeting yesterday, 2/19: 🧵
⚠️ 1/6. We are still under attack. There may be fewer agents in town, but ICE is still very much in action in the Cities and suburbs.
A retired British primary school administrator with a British passport and a valid visa was shackled, chained and detained for six weeks by ICE

They have NOT retreated. ICE is still here, still abducting people and terrorizing communities.
I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.
And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.
It only took me a month, but I finally made a volunteer page on Stand With Minnesota. Because we are about to need a lot of freaking volunteers. Help us keep Minnesota housed!
straight out of those Civil War histories where some ill informed white Union soldier got a view of slavery up close and became hyper abolitionist in an instant
In his confirmation hearings, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told U.S. senators that he would not cut funding for vaccine research or change the nation's official vaccine recommendations. He did both. n.pr/46QDn9p
