A poster shows a photo of a small brown hedgehog just beneath the blades of a strimmer. Text reads: Strimmer Warning. Every year many hedgehogs are seriously injured or killed by cutting machinery in the garden. Please check grass and hedges before using mowers, strimmers or hedge cutters. A hedgehog's natural defense is to roll into a ball rather than run. Their spines are no match for a strimmer.

A large great gray owl flies through the snowy forest with its nearly 5 ft wings outstretched and bright yellow eyes lit by the setting sun.
A great gray owl pulls its enormous wings into a downstroke as it gains altitude on its flight through the forest. Its yellow eyes are lit by the sun as it looks at its next perch.
A few more moments from the great gray owl I encountered a little over a week ago. I haven't seen it since, but I'm lucky to have these photos to look back on. #birds πΏ

Yes - SEND isn't a separate issue. Curriculum, Ofsted + SEND reviews should have been completed together - a complete overhaul as the current system isn't fit for purpose.
My MSc research explored attendance challenges for autistic learners. Quality training helps, but it isnβt enough. Schools also need enough support staff. Having a trusted key person made a real difference. Positive change also happened when staff listened to families & responded flexibly to needs.
