It is the best thing ever. Paying 4/8$ for Sync is a no brainer. And the 3 things you need to learn about mark down will take you 10 minutes (titles, lists, links (, code blocks - if you are a dev)).

Let me know if you need any tips and tricks.

Obsidian is now free for work Starting today, the Obsidian Commercial license is optional. Anyone can use Obsidian for work, for free. Explore organizations that support Obsidian on our new Enterprise page.

Talking about alternatives: Obsidian did the opposite: free enterprise licenses and the choice to add AI only through plugins. Team collaboration with Relay is smooth, and your data remains yours, stored on your own devices. Worth a look! @obsidian.md @stephango.com

Oh, and I totally forgot the most important part: the community I work with many languages and frameworks and there’s just no other community out there so welcoming and loving and helpful.

Ruby. It is just beautiful and works exactly as I would expect it to do. Whenever I have to automate a task I choose ruby. You might argue with performance, but me enjoying my work is more important than that 1 second I have to wait once in a while 😍

Here is a new beta feature in "ChatGPT MD" that I am excited about:

Select the language model that you want to chat with in your notes from the command palette.

It searches available opeanAIs GPT models and all locally installed models via Ollama (github.com/bramses/chat...)

Here is how to use it:

Hey Obsidian users,

we've just rolled out ChatGPT MD 2.0.0 featuring

Ollama support for local LLMs and
the ability to link any note in your vault for more context for the AI.

Try these new features, you can install "ChatGPT MD" through

Settings > Community Plugins > Browse -> "ChatGPT MD"

Yes you need to add a few dollars. 5$ will already get you very far. API costs especially with the mini models are quite moderate.

That’s not a very helpful error message and I am to blame for that 😎 I’ll check later what went possibly wrong

ChatGPT MD is a community plugin. You can easily install it from the Community Plugin tab in the Obsidian settings. Just add your openAI API key and you can use the chat command in any note. I recommend setting up a hot key. cmd + j works great for me.

You are using obsidian.md for your notes and want to chat with GPT from any note? Checkout chatGPT MD (github.com/bramses/chat...) We released a new version recently.

A huge update is coming next week where you can use any local model via Ollama (DeepSeek and Gemma2 are my favorites). Stay tuned 😎

Important side note: Don’t get discouraged by short answers. People are usually not rude. They are just quick in their work. Don’t get discouraged if your pull requests are being closed without being taken into consideration. Just move on. It’s the same for all of us 😎

Some repos tag issues as β€žgood first issueβ€œ. If you don’t want to start with writing code, you can easily improve documentation or localization. Look for typos. Fix something small and see how it goes through the process. You will be writing code that others are using in no time πŸ’ͺ

Here are the usual steps to contribute to open source software:

1. fork the repo you want to work on
2. create a branch with a meaningful name on your fork
3. commit your changes on your branch
4. create a pull request on the other repo
5. wait for feedback

For the first time I am putting serious efforts into an open source project. I would have never thought that it feels so good to

A. Fix a tool I use daily and
B. Make something better for others

Ping me if you need help understanding how the process of contributing to OSS works. It’s fun/easy

I’ll keep you in the loop. β€œCMD + .” to close the game window is already a win for quick iterations 😎

Thank you Nathan for the detailed answer. I bought the newest 2D course and I am enjoying every single bit of it, even though things are very simple. It is great that you take the time to explain how learning works instead of just talking about features. Will let you know if I have more feedback ✌️

@gdquest.bsky.social hey Nathan ✌️ what’s the best GDQuest course for an experienced developer to get up to speed with Godot 4 (2D for now). I am interested in intermediate and advanced concepts like your signal message bus etc πŸ™‚
