That tracks. I have a very over simplified view of it, i think, because of how my son interacts with it vs how he interacts with other media. The absence of a manifest commercial agenda (outside of ‘please consume other stuff we’re doing’) carries a disproportionate weight for me.

Is there a tremendous amount of merit to doing away with it though? Genuinely interested.

We used to be happy to just do stuff like this diagetically, as a lil’ treat.

TBF, the way McKellan plays the ‘…RUN!’ does have the faintest whiff Python in its inflection

Soon, shruggy-bathos-core will begin to eat itself and characters will start drawing attention to the fact that everyone keeps stopping to cynically interrogate the premise.

The few times I have been commissioned to sit down and actually write Doctor Who or cosmic horror; this one 2000AD story (the images, the mechanics of its premise and the feeling it left me with) always comes to mind. Gonna have to resist the urge to go hunting in the loft for it!

Also, while I’ve got you, I was telling the other half yesterday about a Vector 13 story that really effected me. About the Big Bang creating two opposing time continuums that horseshoed away from each other but were now on a collision course. Was that one of yours?

Had lots of positive reactions at last nights quiz to the (admittedly bloody easy) ‘mystery song, silent lip synch’ round. Will stump them next time

A coat hanger wire frame of a dragons head - bolstered with cardboard and gaffer tape

The Papier-mâché is now dry and is being painted with orange poster paint mixed with PVA in my little utility area

Like some kind of middle-class Pon farr, the compulsion to absolutely wreck myself for world book day screams in my blood until it becomes deafening.
