Kids go straight from school to intensive club sports practices to mandatory family dinners to math tutors and then are so tired (or have parents who have read extensively about the importance of sleep for teenagers) that they go to sleep.
But there’s another issue I don’t think has gotten enough attention, which is: kids today are completely overscheduled and many who WANT to read don’t have time.
