Lover of Dark Castle and C= computers. Much humor may be found in assigning importance to things which don't remotely deserve it. Skip my videos at https://www.youtube.com/@pacbilly and just enjoy their descriptions, posted here: https://pacbilly.com

You can. Most people will be tempted to play with a joystick, but Dark Castle is meant for keyboard controls. It may be a learning curve if you're not already accustomed to playing the game with keyboard controls. @logrus.uk was speaking ill of the C64 version, and I was hoping to set him straight.
The whole point is to experience it with the C64's keyboard layout, not emulation through your PC.
@logrusUK Your challenge: You have an Ultimate. Get the DC EasyFlash image and pop it on an SD: drive.google.com/file/d/1C9_g...
Play it, WITH KEYBOARD CONTROLS. Note the genius way it uses the C64's keyboard layout for aiming. It works. And if you're not beguiled by its charms, you're dead to me.
@logrus.uk I made this video the previous day, and it showcases the difference between the 1st game, made with love, and the 2nd, which feels rushed. If you've watched the DC video, this should highlight the contrast. Bigger game, more corners cut, but only one SID channel? Why? youtu.be/8mDgfcg-fi0

@logrus.uk The first Dark Castle for the C64 is exquisite, as I hope I succeed in imparting here. youtu.be/I-M8cF9ER8I
Dead Cells is an absolute thrill ride once you get a few play sessions into it.
Cotten was never under the radar for me. Shadow of a Doubt, Ambersons, Portrait of Jenny, Third Man, and of course, Kane. All among my faves. Great artwork though!! If it were mine itβd be framed on the wall.
Hint: the shield path from the first game is boarded up, but if youβll recall, there are plenty of bombs to be had in Beyondβs east and west labyrinths. ;D
It has all the levels from the first two games, so youβll be able to relive your glory days. Only difference, since thereβs a new black knight room, heβs been replaced by an eyeball in the first gameβs final room, and by a barrel guy in the second.
Archer Maclean is smiling down from that big dropzone in the sky.
@golgo13.bsky.social @logrus.uk @thehighlander71.bsky.social Don't look half bad!! Elements of Rick Dangerous without the frustration. And a Castlevania-style whip for the baddies.
It's easy to emulate with this. I know it's not the same, but still plays well. www.gryphel.com/c/minivmac/
Hehe, it's been out for Mac since 2008, but it was only recently converted to run on the Unity engine and re-released yesterday. Half of the content on my channel is devoted to it.
And I returned your message, but it was a while because I didn't read it properly until after the stream.
I made this in case you need starter tips for the new release of Return to Dark Castle from Ludit. www.youtube.com/live/nh_D2w-...
Nah, might record when I hop back on here in a bit.
Played for a bit, stocked up on supplies, got a couple orbs, the fireballs and shield.
Have you not seen enough?
T-minus 3 hours and counting...

Oh man!
I did see Dark Star! Also written by Dan OβBannon, if you can count that movieβs beach ball alien as part of the same cinematic universe.
Reluctantly.
I still haven't seen any Alien movies.
Tonight, reluctantly using AI, I solved a 41-year old mystery. A show I've never heard anyone else mention, but I distinctly remember watching, Otherworld, aired on CBS for only 8 episodes in 1985. Took me a while to track down because I falsely remembered Christopher Daniel Barnes playing the son.
They're so close to the same color that they almost blend into a single two-headed animal.
Post a pic or video you took, no context, to bring some zen to the feed. (I couldnβt resist a second one)

It'll be easy to steal it back. You'll prolly find me tumped over in the next yard. I had a bike a million years ago, but it was a dirt bike and I ain't rode since me 20s.
