ASF members meeting over.
So many old friends that I haven't seen in way too long.

Congrats to the new members.
Congrats to the new board.

This sounds like the proper tool for what I build a ugly/hacky/shitty version of back in the days at joost.

Basically defining queries, streaming data through and watch the query results change.

We had the batch layer but also wanted some real-time insights.

Tempting to play with.

He could ... but I fear all we get is another Puppet Regime video ... which are all great ... but ... no war would be better.

Fun - but I fail to see a good use case. Got one to share?

Wow - even if you call them again and they "fix it".
Two calls on your time to fix their mistake. Uff.

macOS Guest - App Store/iCloud Login Failure Β· Issue #3617 Β· utmapp/UTM Describe the issue I have a macOS guest (12.2.1) that works amazingly well with one strange issue - I am unable to log into iCloud nor the App Store. Both fail with the helpful error message "The a...

Apple not supporting a login to the AppStore on a virtual machine is such a pain. It would be so nice for testing.

Why Apple? Why do you hate us developers so much?

Is that a slap for using it or for not maintaining it?
Or maybe even for the general ingress story?

So, apparently IMDB got bought by Amazon ages ago but now pushes the use of the Amazon account.

I guess the surprise is only really the time it took.

I don't mind allowing to connect accounts - but forcing universal logins is so bad. It always has - it will always will be.

39C3 - A post-American, enshittification-resistant internet YouTube video by media.ccc.de

"A post-American, enshittification-resistant internet" is worth a watch/listen.

I really like the take that repealing anti-circumvention laws might be the better response to the current situation we are stuck in.

Clippy would like that.

Alan Dye, the "genius" behind Liquid Glass, is leaving Apple for Meta. Stephen Lemay is taking over. Now there's at least a little hope they might fix things.

I can already hear developers and users rejoicing.

One of the reasons I am still on macOS 15.
I have the feeling Tahoe is a "skip".

I just came across one of the most interesting projects in a long time:

Reticulum - a fresh perspective on the networking stack

...and then you read that the main dev had to step down.

At some point projects just need to move to a more community managed model. #OSS

Apparently?
No idea how healthy the ecosystem is.
But I would love it to see some more progress in this direction.

Both Android and iOS come with so much painful baggage - I sure would applaud a real alternative.

Having more realistic hardware seems like a big step.

EU Council Approves New β€œChat Control” Mandate Pushing Mass Surveillance By disguising coercion as consent, the EU’s plan enlists tech companies as willing agents in its quiet expansion of digital surveillance.

This feels like we are fighting on two fronts at the same time. The blue/brown crowd and the ones that make it hard to argue for the EU.

Shared package registries and to some extend CI/CD pipelines are becoming more and more of a liability.

Providing your CI/CD pipeline with terraform/k8s/ssh access?

You better know what you are doing.

And the AppView will gather the sum from all the PDSs.
Now it makes sense why SQLite is the obvious choice.

Right, but let's say a post goes viral and MANY people give a like on one of my posts. Are those likes written to my or their DB?

In other words: Is the one sql writer a bottleneck in case of high traffic. Or are likes personal and get aggregated somehow?
