PhD thesis is submitted!
Very happy with this milestone and proud of the work in my thesis.
Also looking forward to focusing on finishing my papers again (after a few days off), now that this is checked off.

University usually is not like that at all in (mainland) Europe. But in the Netherlands most universities have a "University College" that offers a Liberal Arts and Sciences program strongly inspired by US/UK college.
Tell me five classes you took in college:
- Existentialism in Literature and Philosophy
- Environmental Economics
- Epigenetic Regulations
- Atmospheric Sciences
- B2-level French
Amsterdam University College was great!
*Please repost* @sjgreenwood.bsky.social and I just launched a new personalized feed (*please pin*) that we hope will become a "must use" for #academicsky. The feed shows posts about papers filtered by *your* follower network. It's become my default Bluesky experience bsky.app/profile/pape...

Really enjoyed the #TIBS2026 conference - lots of new ideas and great talks.
Want to give props to @tibsaarhus2026.bsky.social organizers and the catering team for delicious, mostly vegan, and plenty of food. I've had mixed experiences with conference food but this really raised the standard!!
Had some great discussion at my poster at #TIBS2026 on our recent paper on climate change impacts on malaria vector mosquitoes. Thanks everyone who dropped by!
It'll still be up for a couple of hours at poster number 2026 (I know - what are the odds?)

Hello Bluesky! I finally made an account on here so I could share a paper that is now out in @globalchangebio.bsky.social!
Our projections show climate change will favor three key #malaria vectors, exposing 200 million additional people to these mosquitoes by 2100.
