A local bookseller sold their height's worth of copies of The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley - they were so excited about it and I ended up loving it too!

Nice! I'm hoping to get this as a gift to add to the personal collection, I enjoyed it that much

THE BUFFALO HUNTER HUNTER by Stephen Graham Jones
I said no particular order, but this is my clear favorite from the year. I read it twice - book and audiobook. Floored by how each of the three narrative voices is so distinct, yet 100% SGJ.

This is the first printed volume of a lovely webcomic about the misadventures of two Twin Cities roommates. Hilarious and heartfelt, while also a love letter to the newspaper comic strip.

THE GALES OF NOVEMBER by John U. Bacon
I've lived all over the Midwest but am mostly Minnesotan, so crying to Gordon Lightfoot's "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" is an annual tradition. Page-turning and so emotional.

YOU DIDN'T HEAR THIS FROM ME by Kelsey McKinney
Fantastic nonfiction exploring gossip. I expected to learn a lot (which I did) but did not expect it to be so heartfelt. But why shouldn't this very human activity hit the heartstrings?

THE GREAT CONTRADICTION by Joseph Ellis
Looks at the true foundation of these United States: slavery and Indian removal. Appreciated the perspectives of founding-era voices. We don't "know better" now, people have always thought this was bad!

Ack! Somehow it's already the last day of #LibFaves25 and I haven't shared anything! So many good reads this year, I'll try to play catch-up and share brief thoughts in no particular order:
10.
THE HOUNDING by Xenobe Purvis
Such a potent and timely parable. Not a word wasted.
Is this connected to the Barbosa from Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean at all? That had some speculative elements, but I would think that's more low fantasy than SF.

I'm a librarian and I like using this site: www.litlovers.com
It has some good posts on leading discussion, some general Q's for discussing any book, and book-specific Q's too.
Good luck!
So so sorry. Here's my two pups.
Zola (l) & Daisy (r)! They're both 4 and are cutie patooties!
