Sorry to break it to you
Park ranger holding a stuffed bat. Text reads βbreaking news. Park ranger SJ Jolson has been FIRED after flying a flag in Yosemiteβwhile off duty. Why this is scary and what we can do to helpβ
#ICYMI, last week Ranger SJ (they/them) was fired from their position as a bat biologist at Yosemite National Park for flying a trans flag on El Capitan while they were off the clock - an expression & celebration of their identity.
They want you to believe that National Parks are open, accessible, and everything is fine. WRONG. Hereβs why that is a LIE and the LEAKED receipts to prove them wrong.
In April 2025, Doug Burgum signed Secretarial Order 3426 ensuring that βNational Parks are open and accessibleβ. Superintendents at each park were asked to report how well their park was doing. Their (leaked) accounts tell a very different story than the one being shared with the public.
"Rocky Mountain National Park Defies predictions after NPS Staff cuts". Here is an actual headline from this last week, but letβs take a look at what is really happening behind the scenes they donβt want you to know.
Wildfire Readiness is Reduced. Staffing shortages mean reduced wildfire readiness and management in at least 3 high-risk fire sites: Cumberland Island National Seashore Joshua Tree National Park Manassas National Battlefield Park For example - At Manassas NBP, reduced regional staff has prevented necessary prescribed burns to manage non-native invasive species and must be treated individually BY HAND.
π Now itβs closed, and NPSβs flagship training βFundamentalsβ is gone. Why should you care?
π The Horace Albright Training Center (HOAL) trained National Park Service rangers for decades. It was the beating heart of the NPS - where the next generation of dedicated public servants learned to protect parks, history, and people.
Graphic coffee stain circle with text that reads Maybe she's born with it, maybe it's caffeine
Sadly, it's numerous things. Rebel stuff and job stuff haha
Black text and purple gradient background. Saying I hate that I present as an independent woman who doesn't need any help. It's a facade. Help me.
White text in black backdrop that says I can't do this anymore. In parentheses, I can and will, I just need to overreact first so I can get back on track.
Illustration of Frog and Toad sitting together on steps, with Frogβs arm around Toad. They sit closely, looking thoughtful, against a background of greenery and a white fence. Text above reads: βmay we all agree to be soft with each other and hard on the system.β

Maybe the curse is confused because he's already so far gone (mentally).

That was not on my 2025 bingo card. Haha
They should try to always give a source. Not because of plagiarism, but so the public is able to evaluate for themselves if the information came from a reliable source.
They may or may not be NPS employees. Maybe they were seasonals or former staff.
But most fed government employees are completely in the dark about what is going on. Only those at the top get any info as they're the ones who are carrying out dealing with it (like the EOs).
Are they saying it's insider info? That every post is insider info?
To me, they serve to help get news out that maybe not as many people would hear otherwise.
It's social media, not academia. Journalists do copy each other. I've seen mistakes get published across news sites from copying each other.
