Hoping to volunteer there after retirement - I want to give something back after all their helpfulness.
Huge thanks to Lancashire Archives. Not only were the staff helpful and the documents ready, but they knew the details of my project and we're at hand with suggestions of other relevant resources in their collection.
A shed load of them!
Near my place is a redundant church. There is a retaining wall between the graveyard and a small but busy road. It is bulging alarmingly.
I am praying hard.
Snicket or alley. Ginnels are covered passages between terraced houses.
Really enjoyed this book.
Absolutely, but with my MA it's slipped a bit...
I am seriously thinking about starting over with my #OnePlaceStudy later in the year. It may not end up vastly different but needs a thorough review. #OnePlaceWednesday.
Ditto Foucault's 'Birth of the Clinic'. Had to read that once. Need to cite it now. Really don't want to have to read it again.
err, Jesus.
Having given work my notice to retire, 2026 has a lot of uncertainties but my life will look very different in 12 months time.
Some plans very embryonic, but finish my MA & have more #OnePlaceStudies fun are up there.
Here's to the next stage!

Immanuel: God with us.
Merry Christmas everybody, hope you have a great day.

Not the service I signed up to provide...
Apparently there was some evidence in 1980's Edinburgh that dirty calls to Nightline/Samaritans did reduce them ringing random women and harassing them. Grim indeed.
Yeah me too!
True...
It does say you can use a food processor to make bean flour if you can/don't want to mill it by hand...๐
So I'm cooking a new recipe from each cookery book I own. There are a lot.
This one's next. Wish me luck...
Does it refer to his work in anaesthesia or is that omitted?
Well done! Mine is much simpler:
Forgot to renew subscription.
Didn't notice for 8 months.
Still haven't got round to it ๐คฃ
I'm tempted now to put oo/oo for my personal pronouns at work.
A useful Lanky word was 'oo'. Overheard on a bus, circa 1975:
'Oo did oo? Oo'd have thought it of oo?'
'oo' has four meanings in this sentence:
'Oh did she? Who would have thought it of her?'

There was a fashion in the 70s for recording traditional Lancashire sing and dialect poetry. Not sure how much spontaneous dialogue has been recorded.
