There were a couple of Black Oystercatchers, hanging out with a Willet and a Black-bellied Plover just a little way along too. So much going on when you stop and look.

A Least Sandpiper on the harbor wall rocks at Loch Lomond Marina, San Rafael. Filtered sunlight through thin clouds, so soft shadows - good lighting for middle of the day shots. The yellow legs distinguish this from the Western Sandpiper.

Thanks Yvonne, lucky that all the right things came together. Right place, right bird, right time.

A Great Egret in shallow water next to a mud bank. Light coming from right and back of frame, giving some rim lighting on the Egrets back, but also catching the top of its head which is angled down. Shadow cast on the mud. The light ripples are also lit up nicely.
