Interesting thread by Tarik Abou-Chadi using CHES 2024
CHES 2024 is out on chesdata.eu. Many, many thanks to our CHES experts! Now enjoy playing with the data. Updated trend file to follow.
Nothing to do with your post, Christopher -- which I agree with.
Am I the only one feeling ambivalent about the flag waving in messages? Can't we just use the paper names.
Yes, I came across your super article only recently. Our article (SSNR # 5072375 or my website) uses these GSS data on majors to produce a continuous variable tapping human-centeredness of someone's education to explain a range of political attitudes. Results consistent with yours!
Super graph! Level of education is a strong predictor for Gal/ Tan voting. In other work we show that this does not exhaust the effect of the education cleavage. What people study (field of study) matters too. See my website for more hooghe.web.unc.edu
GAL is green, alternative, libertarian and TAN is traditional, authoritarian, nationalist. Check my website (hooghe.web.unc.edu) for more.
I am looking to hire a post-doctoral researcher to work with me in a project on social cleavages and political party competition in Europe:

Happy to answer any questions, and thanks in advance for circulating the call!
Great new book, highly recommended for party and election scholars. We just read it in my PhD parties class paired with Lipset/Rokkan and @liesbethooghe.bsky.social/Marks on transnational cleavage.
We find that (1) education structures voting for GAL and TAN parties in Western Europe; (2) social structuration is as high as for classic social democratic parties in the 1950s; (3) education structures also Republicans and Democrats. Open access, and on our homepages.
Excellent!
High quality work on immigration flows and RR backlash. Must read.
The real challenge of our time indeed -- losing the modern state (and rule of law) to patrimonialism (and strongmanism).
Support Wikipedia if you can!
Congratulations!
This article on "(North Carolina) Republican pastors and the use of force" was a COVID passion that is out in Religion & Politics, and -- let's say-- remains topical. With thanks to my co-authors Stephanie Shady and Gary Marks. North Carolina, you're very much on my mind.

Last evening of two amazing weeks in Amsterdam. visited many favorite haunts, met old friends and made new ones at Theresa Kuhn's workshop on Identity, said hello to Vermeer and Van Gogh, got an R&R done in Cafe Boca, and enjoyed the festive lights along the canals. Amsterdam, we'll be back!
