Global Health Faculty Fellows Dr. Bonnie Maldonado and @sethahoffmanmd.bsky.social contributed to this timely report about aluminum salts in childhood vaccines, reviewing nearly a century of evidence about key safety concerns.
Now we have a presentation from Griffin on aluminum adjuvants, which I'm sure will be a very fun experience from me. I will note that there is no inclusion of this on the latest agenda, though it was there in previous versions.

I collaborated with exceptionally talented people in infectious diseases to write this Special Article about aluminum salts in childhood vaccines.
We review the evidence base for key safety concerns and offer guidance for communication with caregivers.

Hi, everyone. I know so many people have been affected by the funding cuts to science in horrific ways. Sanaria, the company I am consulting for, has produced unprecedented progress in a highly effective malaria vaccine and is in major financial jeopardy because of these cuts.

Exciting to see the highly impactful work of Stanford's Luby Lab to address pollution from brick kilns featured in @science.org!

Maybe it's just me but I feel very sad that the United States has a #measles tracker in 2025, when we have had a vaccine that is 97% effective for over 50 years.

Absolutely fantastic, timely, and important conversation

An @endpts.com exclusive: the CDC's ACIP meeting has been rescheduled to mid-April. endpts.com/acip-meeting...
I take this statement back, had no idea about the multiple unreported conflicts of interest on your author list.

โMeasles is the most infectious virus we know. However, itโs a harbinger of low vaccination rates, and it is quite likely we will start seeing outbreaks of other diseases that are vaccine preventable as well as these vaccine rates decrease."

If people are interested in learning about the ACIP and its decades of contributions to US vaccine policy successes, hereโs a short 2014 piece I wrote in NEJM with Adel Mahmoud (timed with its 50th anniversary) www.nejm.org/doi/full/10....
Either way, excellent and important work. Totally agree with your teamsโ framing of this problem that should be clear to the public from a risk/benefit perspective
@putrinolab.bsky.social do you think work also limited by patient report for inclusion/exclusion criteria? Recognize may not have been feasible to triple check but could mention that you are unable to definitively ascertain SARSCoV2 infection history (or overlapping infection during vax period) ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Thereโs a lot ofโฆ discussionโฆ right now about whatโs going on with the USโs current flu season, which seems to be the worst itโs been in 15 years of recorded data. Iโd like to clarify some things to help people understand:
I can't underscore this enough- Kennedy's word is worthless. He says whatever he needs to say to maximize the power he holds and he tells baldfaced lies without flinching (just look at his confirmation hearings). He actively ignores the evidence- it's been shown to him many times.
ATTENTION
If you are on a study section that was scheduled to meet, please post or DM me with information regarding:
1. The name of the study section
2. The scheduled date
3. Whether the meeting actually occurred

In the midst of all of the scary headlines recently, I thought I could take a moment to share a bit of good news: for the first time in history, a malaria vaccine with >90% efficacy seems to be within reach!
Hereโs why thatโs a really big deal for EVERYONE ๐งต

In light of all the negativity in the news, awesome to see SCRI and Sanaria's (sanaria.com) #malariavaccine work being highlighted! ๐
