With a thermal drone, and a crew of fabulous farmers and volunteers, a dashing (sic) rescue was orchestrated. Huge sigh of relief as this 4-week old chick was released to live another day. π
It's got a fortnight until flight. ππ€#FarmingHeroes 2/

π₯° And finally we're thrilled to show you a murky shot of this 30 day chick from today. It'll not win any photo awards but it's great to see as yesterday this family were secretive about their whereabouts - so joyful to have them back. π₯°

β¨ ah! Carol heard a single call by her wood.
And now John has thirty feeding together. Thirty birds, fresh from the west, feeding on the wet ground, dripping salty miles from their feathers. π
Hooray for them. Hooray for their calls. πΆ
Hooray for the fields that remember them.
Spring is here. πΏ

π Debs saw and heard the first pair, just as she did last year. Then Terry in Burneside & John near Crosthwaite. π
π Theyβve come from Ireland, Spain and Portugal - the long pull of memory has brought them home. πΏπΆ
And just like that, Spring is assured.
